Salary: £33,000 - 53,000 per year

Requirements: Educated to A Level or equivalent, and a graduate with a degree in any discipline.An actuarial background is advantageous but not essential.Strong numerical ability, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and engage with senior stakeholders.Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to analyse issues and develop practical solutions.At least 5 years experience in commercial insurance in exposure management, catastrophe risk or actuarial work.Essential: knowledge of catastrophe modelling methodologies, including third-party models, and experience communicating changes to key stakeholders.Knowledge of cyber catastrophe risk is desirable; experience in liability or other relevant insurance classes is also advantageous.Lloyds insurance market experience and knowledge of Lloyds Realistic Disaster Scenarios (RDS) are desirable.Understanding of policy and reinsurance structures is essential.Strong technical skills, including advanced Excel experience, are essential.Understanding of risk management principles and their application, such as controls, is desirable.Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for continuous improvement.Flexible and enthusiastic, able to adapt to evolving business needs.Professional and reliable, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outputs. Responsibilities: Interpret and execute catastrophe modelling across internal and external scenarios, including third-party models, and oversee Analysts where appropriate.Support modelling and related responses for cyber and liability regulatory reporting, including Lloyds RDS.Run internal probabilistic models under guidance from the Capital team; provide portfolio commentary and insights; and present results and catastrophe risk papers to governance committees.Validate and challenge third-party models and internal scenarios, assessing assumptions, limitations, uncertainty and sensitivity, explaining their impact, and benchmarking outputs against internal and external comparisons.Develop methodologies to model complex insurance and reinsurance structures, including consortia, delegated authority, facilities, programmes, reinsurance, Cat Bonds, ILS and other bespoke arrangements.Maintain clear documentation of modelling methodologies, assumptions, judgements and changes.Support monthly cyber and liability portfolio roll-ups and risk appetite monitoring, identifying trends and material changes in exposure profiles, data quality or modelled losses.Contribute to strategic discussions on catastrophe modelling methods, transformation projects and team strategy; keep up to date with industry practice, market insights and regulatory expectations.Engage with brokers, vendors, Lloyds and other regulators on catastrophe modelling developments and expectations; assist with research into emerging threats, vendor model changes and industry events.Provide clear insights and analytical support to Underwriters, Capital Modelling, Ceded Reinsurance, Risk teams and governance committees, including support for underwriting decisions and ad hoc event responses.Own and maintain documentation, files and controls for cyber and liability modelling processes and tools; identify and implement process and control improvements, including for exposure and results data.Contribute to third-party model system upgrades, including user acceptance testing and implementation of new model versions.Coach and mentor junior team members, support colleagues development in cyber and liability exposure management, and share technical knowledge to promote consistent standards.Uphold our values and comply with our procedures, policies, regulations and code of conduct; complete required training, act ethically in customers interests, support fair customer outcomes, and carry out other responsibilities assigned through objectives or the learning management system. This role is within our Exposure Management team and focuses on catastrophe risk management for our Cyber Risks and Specialty Risks divisions. You will develop, validate, maintain and apply internal methodologies and third-party models for cyber and liability catastrophe risk, ensuring outputs are robust, fit for purpose and aligned with business needs. The role works closely with Exposure Management, Cyber and Specialty Underwriting, Capital Modelling, Ceded Reinsurance, Risk Management, Data teams, governance committees and external parties such as modelling vendors and reinsurance brokers.
