Salary: £28,500 - 56,500 per year
Requirements: Several years of Mainframe Systems Programming experience specializing in CICS administration and support.Proven experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical CICS environments, including systems with stringent availability requirements.Experience installing, customizing, upgrading, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting CICS Transaction Server environments.Hands-on experience with CICS Transaction Server, SMP/E, z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and RACF.Exposure to Mainframe Sysplex environments and high-availability configurations.Ability to analyze and resolve complex system and application issues, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong understanding of system performance management and capacity planning.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in global teams.Experience with CICS Transaction Server 4.2 and/or 5.3 or higher, OMEGAMON for CICS, ACF2 and RACF administration, and Mainframe Sysplex environments is desired.Knowledge of high-availability and disaster-recovery architectures, automation and operational tooling in CICS environments, and application connectivity and middleware technologies is desired.Experience supporting banking or financial services organizations, or other large enterprise environments, is preferred.Ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance, make sound technical decisions in complex or ambiguous situations, and consider long-term risks and implications.Understanding of ITIL-based service management processes is preferred.Experience as a CICS Systems Programmer or Technical Specialist, including knowledge of CICS Transaction Server, SMP/E, OMEGAMON/CICS, ACF2, RACF, and Mainframe Sysplex environments, is preferred.Flexible and adaptable management style, with experience developing yourself and others and a track record of making complex business decisions with authority. Responsibilities: Install, configure, administer, maintain, and support CICS systems software and production environments.Create and manage CICS resource definitions and system configurations.Install, test, and implement CICS Transaction Server releases, maintenance updates, and enhancements.Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for applications using CICS services, including out-of-hours troubleshooting and incident resolution.Work with application development and support teams to resolve complex technical issues.Lead problem determination, root-cause analysis, incident resolution, and recovery activities for critical disruptions.Design and implement technology solutions that improve service availability, performance, and operational efficiency.Monitor CICS performance and system resources to maintain optimal response times and service levels.Develop, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and business-continuity procedures.Administer user access controls and support security implementations using RACF and ACF2.Perform capacity planning and performance tuning for CICS environments.Ensure data security, recovery, and compliance requirements are met.Support change management, release management, planned maintenance, software upgrades, and production implementations.Provide on-call and after-hours support for critical incidents and implementations as required.Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and standards.Collaborate with infrastructure, development, security, and application support teams.Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, and process optimization.Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and ownership in managing critical platform services, and contribute to technology modernization and infrastructure enhancement initiatives.
