The Library Operations Student Assistant team provides essential support to the daily operations of the library by assisting with facility readiness, customer service, and administrative tasks. Student assistants help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while supporting library staff with routine operational needs. Responsibilities may include monitoring public spaces, assisting patrons with wayfinding and basic inquiries, setting up and breaking down rooms and events, supporting inventory and supply management, helping with building opening and closing procedures, processing departmental paperwork, and performing special projects as assigned. The Library Operations Student Assistant supports the day-to-day operation of library facilities by providing customer service, assisting with building and event support functions, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for library patrons. This position performs a variety of operational, administrative, and facility-related tasks, including monitoring public spaces, assisting with room setups, supporting inventory and supply management, completing routine inspections, responding to patron inquiries, and assisting library staff with special projects. Student Assistants play an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of library services and facilities while developing valuable professional, communication, and organizational skills.

• Provide courteous customer service and assist library patrons with directions, wayfinding, and basic facility-related questions. • Monitor public areas to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment. • Assist with room, classroom, and event space setups, resets, and breakdowns. • Support building opening and closing procedures as assigned. • Conduct routine facility inspections and report maintenance, safety, or custodial concerns to staff. • Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and organizing storage areas. • Deliver and distribute materials, equipment, and supplies throughout library facilities. • Help maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces, public areas, and operational storage locations. • Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, document preparation, and record keeping. • Assist staff with special projects, departmental initiatives, and operational activities. • Observe and report unusual activities, safety hazards, or facility issues to appropriate library personnel. • Follow university, library, and departmental policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. • Work collaboratively with library staff, student employees, and campus partners to support library operations. • Perform other duties as assigned in support of library facilities and operations. Physical Requirements: May require standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying materials and supplies up to 25 pounds, and working throughout various library facilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• USF Student in good standing. • Students must be enrolled full time (12 credits for undergraduate students and 9 credits for graduate students). Exceptions to the half time requirement are granted if: • The student is in his/her last semester and is enrolled in the number of credit hours needed to complete his/her degree requirement; or, • The student is enrolled in a thesis or dissertation course. Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous customer service, library, retail, hospitality, facilities, or office support experience preferred. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations. • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
