Role overview
The Latin America & Canada (LAC) Chief Data Office drives regional adoption of the Firm’s data governance strategy, ensuring consistent application of firmwide data policies, standards, and procedures across the region’s lines of business and legal entities, while meeting regional regulatory expectations and strengthening data risk oversight.
As a Vice President within the LAC Chief Data Office, you will lead regional execution of the Firm’s data governance framework and regulatory compliance agenda, enhancing data risk oversight across lines of business and legal entities. This is an individual contributor role (no direct reports) requiring the ability to synthesize cross-country themes, exercise independent judgment, and critically assess and validate information provided by business and corporate function stakeholders, ensuring conclusions and governance records are well-supported and suitable for regulators and audits.
Key responsibilities
• Drive implementation of data-related regulatory requirements across LAC legal entities, developing project plans and producing requirement summaries, defensible interpretations, and gap assessments; maintain an auditable record of decisions, approvals, and remediation status suitable for governance, audit, and potential regulatory review.
• Represent LAC in firmwide data governance initiatives ensuring the LAC legal-entity perspective is incorporated into firmwide designs and plans, assess regional impacts, and proactively raise, challenge, and escalate when initiatives are not fit-for-purpose.
• Exercise independent challenge and due diligence by developing and maintaining strong knowledge of LAC regulatory requirements; evaluate stakeholder inputs, test assumptions, and triangulate evidence. Probe inconsistencies through critical follow-up questions, escalate when conclusions are not defensible, and provide options with a clear recommendation and rationale.
• Act as a connector across the region, identifying themes, emerging risks, inconsistencies, and opportunities to standardize and improve governance execution
• Support regulatory exam / audit readiness by coordinating evidence, status updates, and written narratives in partnership with stakeholders.
• Foster a strong data culture across LOBs through training, communications, and targeted campaigns; tailor messaging appropriately for senior management and working teams.
Required qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (Law, International Relations preferred).
• 6+ years in risk management, controls, governance, or regulatory compliance (financial services preferred). • Demonstrated ability to identify patterns and inconsistencies across legal entities facing the same or similar requirements; synthesize evidence and independently challenge assumptions and interpretations. • Comfortable operating in ambiguity while teams, standards, and processes are being established.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Proven ability to write clear, concise, and factual materials in Spanish and English for executive and regulatory audiences; Portuguese is a plus.
• Familiarity with data governance concepts (data quality, metadata, lineage, controls, issue management, privacy).
