JOB SUMMARY: Deliver comprehensive consultative technical service/support and training related to all of the district’s wide area networks (WAN) and local area networks (LAN) networks. Serves as the primary district resource for all technical, design, operational, and security issues relating to district networks. Provides technical guidance and advice to Information Systems administration. Provides direct Support to the network operation team, building technology specialists, and other Information Systems personnel. Assist all district WAN and LAN users as needed.

Install and manage local and wide area networks. (LAN, WLAN and WAN)

Install, configure, and maintain firewalls, switches, and routers for the district's WAN.

Analyze and resolve problems with regard to utilization, security, and performance of district networks.

Manage network installation projects, supervise contractors, and coordinate with other district departments as needed

Test, implement, configure, and maintain Building and maintaining site to site VPNS

Test, implement, configure, and maintain network management tools

Establish comprehensive district-wide networking concepts and standards.

Analyze and evaluate new networking solutions for incorporation into district-wide standards.

Monitor network utilization and performance; recommend network enhancements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field. • Five (5) years of experience with all aspects of LANs, WLANs and WANs including TCP/IP, VOIP, and wiring, with three (3) of those years working with firewalls and internet filters. • CCNA in Routing and Switching, Network+ certification, or another network coursework. • Valid Colorado driver’s license. • Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self Insurance Pool. • Advanced knowledge of computers and cell phones. • Advanced problem-solving skills. • Advanced verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. • Ability to be adaptive to changing needs. • Frequent intra-district travel • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other qualifications relevant to the position that are strongly preferred but not mandatory for a candidate to be considered.

• CCNP or CCIE in Routing and Switching. • Strong understanding with Optical network transport technology (CWDM/DWDM/Ethernet) • Deep understanding of Data center networking (cabling, configuration, segmentation, security) • Tier1 through engineering level troubleshooting • Deep understanding of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, PIM) • Deep understanding of switching protocols (spanning-tree, VLAN, Q-in-Q, COS) • Test, implement, configure, and maintain point to point wireless links • Experience working with Tier1 and last mile service providers • Experience working in the public sector • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement
