Job Overview: The Principal Payroll Administrator provides solutions to problems that may be atypical or infrequently occurring based on practice and existing precedents or procedures. The work of the Principal Payroll Administrator directly impacts the quality of the team's work. They can communicate technical payroll information to the team and suggest improvements to existing processes.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for execution of assigned end to end Payroll activities • Reconcile payroll taxes • Back up to payroll supervisor • Prepare special payroll reports as needed • Ensure all SOX documents are completed for each on-cycle and off-cycle payroll • Assist in the maintenance of documentation for all pay groups (desk procedures, job aids, checklists) • Perform testing of new system functionalities/processes or assist with testing as needed using the ALM system • Communicate with different teams to ensure all processes are accurate, complete • Research and resolve issues regarding posting, funding, and taxes • Recommend process improvements to payroll-related items • Ensure all payroll processing documents are stored in proper files • Maintain payroll files regularly (electronically) • Attend regular meetings • Cross-train on other processes • Process any pay group including off-cycle payrolls, as needed • Process new hires/rehires for any pay group • Contribute to process improvement opportunities
Essential Qualifications and Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting • Minimum 5 years of work experience in payroll • Able to perform gross to net calculations, able to reconcile taxes, able to resolve GL and Treasury issues • Excellent communication skills • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment • Ability to meet multiple deadlines • Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as a team player • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines • Maintain critical competencies associated with the payroll processing function • Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken • Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook #LI-DL1
