Salary: £25,738 to £28,868per annum, actual. Southend Local Government pay scale 6,
Range points 13-20. £30,023 to £33,673 FTE)
Chase High School is looking to appoint a committed, organised and student-focused Deputy Year Leader to join our pastoral team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and making a positive difference to their attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and wider school experience.
Working closely with the Head of Year, you will provide effective pastoral support to students within your allocated year group and act as a key point of contact for students, parents and staff. You will help identify concerns early, provide appropriate support and work with colleagues and external agencies to ensure positive outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head of Year with the pastoral care, welfare, attendance and behaviour of students. Investigate incidents, gather information and liaise with students, staff, parents and external agencies as appropriate. Support the effective management of behaviour and ensure agreed sanctions and strategies are implemented. Monitor attendance and punctuality, putting appropriate strategies in place to improve outcomes. Maintain accurate student records and information on SIMS, including correspondence, filing and archiving. Organise parents’ consultation evenings and support Parent Call activities. Act as a first point of contact for pastoral concerns and ensure issues are followed up promptly. Support other Deputy Year Leaders when required. Promote high expectations of behaviour, inclusion, equality and student welfare. Follow all school policies and procedures, particularly safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety and data protection. Participate in relevant training, meetings and professional development. Is passionate about supporting young people and improving their outcomes. Has experience working with children or young people in an educational, pastoral or similar setting. Has a calm, consistent and supportive approach to behaviour and pastoral matters. Builds positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Has excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills. Can manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Is confident using SIMS or willing to learn. Demonstrates resilience, teamwork and a strong commitment to safeguarding.
