Job summary Working under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP or Nurse Practitioner. The duties may also include all tasks normally undertaken by a Health Care Assistant, and in addition any roles agreed between you and the Nurse Manager as appropriate, having regard to current training. Main duties of the job Obtain blood samples from patients in support of laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Perform a variety of routine blood drawing procedures, to include venepuncture, using standard equipment.
