Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) co-ordinator within the West Yorkshire (WYO) NHS Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Service. The role is a senior role, responsible for leading the operational delivery of the NHS AAA Screening Programme across the region. The post combines leadership, service management, quality assurance, and patient pathway coordination. The base is at Calderdale Royal Hospital and the hours of work is 28 over 4 days.

Main duties of the job

The role involves managing screening pathways, coordinating clinics, supervising staff, monitoring performance, maintaining high-quality data, and working collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to provide an effective and patient-centred screening service.The post holder contributes to service development, quality improvement, governance, and compliance with national screening standards while ensuring patients receive timely screening, surveillance, and onward referral where appropriate.

The Band 6 AAA Co-ordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operational delivery ofthe NHS Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme across West Yorkshire. The postholder ensures the programme is delivered efficiently, safely, and in accordance with nationalscreening standards, NHS policies, and local procedures.The role involves managing screening pathways, coordinating clinics, supervising staff, monitoringperformance, maintaining high-quality data, and working collaboratively with clinical andadministrative teams to provide an effective and patient-centred screening service.The post holder contributes to service development, quality improvement, governance, andcompliance with national screening standards while ensuring patients receive timely screening,surveillance, and onward referral where appropriate.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING Essential

Education to degree level or working towards or equivalent experience. Evidence of continuing professional development in field or similar GCSE English and Maths at Grades 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Desirable

Knowledge of NHS England Screening Programmes and national screening standards.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE Essential

3 years Leadership/Management experience Experience of budget responsibility. Clinical Governance knowledge. Programme/Project Management. Previous experience of line management. Collaborative, multi agency working.

Desirable

Experience of working within Screening Programmes, health promotion specialties. Experience of Regional Quality Assurance requirements. Organising/Leading team meeting and networking events. Recent experience of working across primary and secondary care teams.

COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS (INCLUDING MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES) Essential

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships. Proven ability to manage difficult conversations, complaints, or challenging situations with tact and diplomacy. Excellent organisational and presentation skills. Ability to influence and motivate staff to achieve service objectives. Experience of delivering training, presentations, or educational sessions.

Desirable

Experience of working across organisational boundaries with multiple stakeholders Experience of representing a service at regional or national meetings.
