We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our Executive Team as our new Chief Performance, Improvement and Transformation Officer. This is a newly created Board-level role with responsibility for bringing together performance, improvement and transformation into a single, integrated portfolio. The successful candidate will help create a clear line of sight from strategy to delivery, ensuring that improvement becomes the Trust's operating model and that priorities translate into measurable outcomes for patients, carers, colleagues and our communities.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and serving as a member of the unitary Board, you will lead the Trust's approach to performance management, improvement methodology, transformation delivery, programme management and organisational productivity. You will provide leadership across clinical, operational and corporate services, strengthening accountability, supporting delivery and helping the organisation improve at pace.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a values-led executive leader with significant experience of leading performance, improvement, and transformation within large, complex organisation. Ideally, you will bring experience of leading performance, or improvement, or transformation within mental health services, enabling you to quickly understand the operational, clinical and regulatory context and make an early impact.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Master's degree or equivalent senior-level knowledge and experience. Evidence of continuing professional and leadership development.
Desirable
Relevant qualification in improvement science, programme or project management, coaching, organisational development, analytics or change leadership.
Experience & Knowledge Essential
Substantial senior leadership experience in a large, complex and multi-professional organisation. Experience of leading across organisational boundaries and contributing to corporate governance and strategic decision-making. Significant experience of designing or leading organisational performance frameworks; interpreting complex intelligence; identifying risk and variation; and securing corrective action and sustained improvement. Demonstrable leadership of complex improvement and transformation programmes with measurable outcomes. Strong knowledge of improvement methods, change leadership, measurement and implementation Experience of prioritising and governing a complex portfolio, managing dependencies and resources, and assuring milestones, risks, benefits and sustainability. Experience of improving productivity and value while protecting or improving quality, outcomes and experience. Ability to connect operational, workforce, financial and clinical perspectives. Track record of building credible partnerships and influencing senior stakeholders across organisational and professional boundaries. Values-led, inclusive and compassionate leader with high integrity, resilience, curiosity and learning orientation. Creates accountability and psychological safety, develops others and works effectively as part of a unitary Board.
Desirable
Executive or Board-level experience within the NHS or wider public sector. Experience of Board-level performance reporting and regulatory assurance. Experience of enterprise-wide improvement operating models, Lean approaches, quality management systems or large-scale system change. Programme or portfolio management accreditation. Experience of leading recurrent efficiency or benefits realisation programmes. Experience of place-based, provider collaborative or integrated care system transformation. Coaching qualification or substantial coaching practice.
Skills & Abilities Essential
Ability to synthesise complex qualitative and quantitative evidence, exercise sound judgement and communicate a clear course of action. Strategic and political awareness; able to operate effectively in ambiguity and under scrutiny. Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills. Able to provide constructive challenge and explain complex issues clearly to Boards, staff, partners and communities.
Desirable
Knowledge of population health, inequalities, demand and capacity modelling, or comparative analytics. Experience of media, public or formal stakeholder engagement.
