About this role

Job summary

Within ELHT Maternity services, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fixed Term 12 month post as Midwifery Team Leader for the Burnley Birth Centre.This is a temporary Band 7 post, involving managerial duties, and clinical duties as required. The post holder will oversee the daily management of the Birth Centre, for a temporary 12 month period.

The successful candidate will oversee the daily management of the Birth Centre and coordination of Community activity and staffing, leading on clinical activity and patient flow, whilst supporting the needs of patients and staff. The role enables opportunity for professional development and leadership within a dynamic area of the Maternity services, supporting the provision of safe, personal and effective care for women and babies throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period.

The successful candidate will work within the Midwife Led alongside Birth Centre, and also in collaboration with the wider Multidisciplinary team and Neonatal colleagues to ensure a high standard of care is maintained.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Midwife having had experience at a band 6 Degree (or working towards) in Midwifery or related subject

Experience Essential

Experience in a Midwifery leadership or managerial position Experience of working with Safeguarding Children legislation Experience of developing services as part of multidisciplinary team Experience of working in a multi-agency setting Experience of managing change

Desirable

Analysing evidence based practice and statistics Managing a budget

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Working knowledge of child protection legislative framework Ability to manage conflict constructively Knowledge of advantages and barriers to partnership working Ability to lead and motivate team Understanding the distinctive contribution of other agencies Effective management of resources Organisational skills, including ability to prioritize workload Evidence of continued professional development An understanding of IT systems. Understanding of the local area and issues Working knowledge of governance framework and risk management processes

Ability to design, implement and evaluate monitoring and evaluation processes
