Contract Type: Permanent

Applicants must be HCPC registered to start as a band 5 Biomedical Scientist.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Biomedical Scientist, the main purpose of this role is to provide timely and accurate results for patient treatment, monitoring, screening and therapy. This includes communicating effectively with a range of healthcare professionals, maintaining a high standard or professional competency and complying with Pathology's Quality Management System.

Job description Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for rotating through sections of the laboratory, performing laboratory techniques to support the diagnosis of infectious diseases. The role involves working within a large team of Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners, Biomedical Support Workers and medical colleagues.

The Microbiology Department at UHS is excited to advertise an opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist.

The department processes over 1,000,000 specimens per year. We employ almost 100 staff and provide a comprehensive 7 day service covering bacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, serology and parasitology and molecular testing.

We are IBMS accredited for pre-registration training and specialist training in medical microbiology, virology and infectious science.

The role involves 24/7 working on a shift pattern, including earlies, cores, lates, and night shifts

Candidates must be able to work all these shifts.

Weekends and bank holidays are also worked on a rotation.
