About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Bank Catering Assistant to join our catering team at Ashgate Hospice.

You will support the preparation and service of nutritious, appetising meals and refreshments for patients, visitors and staff, helping to ensure that patients dietary needs, preferences and comfort are met with care and dignity.

You will work as part of a friendly team, maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety while supporting the wider catering service as required.

This is an adhoc and casual bank opportunity, offering flexibility to work shifts when required. Previous catering experience is helpful, but we are looking for people who are reliable, adaptable, work well as part of a team and share our commitment to compassionate, respectful and inclusive care.

Main duties of the job

You will assist with the preparation, presentation and service of meals and beverages for patients, visitors and staff, taking account of individual dietary requirements and preferences.

You will support patients during mealtimes, responding courteously to their needs and helping to maintain their comfort and dignity. You will maintain high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and infection prevention, including cleaning kitchen and dining areas and following relevant procedures.

You will also assist with deliveries, stock rotation and appropriate food storage, and work flexibly with catering colleagues and volunteers to support the smooth running of the service.

Qualifications Essential

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, or willingness to work towards this following appointment.

Desirable

NVQ level 2 in Food Production, Catering or Hospitality Experience of working within a catering, hospitality or healthcare environment
