Job summary
The Matron is a senior clinical leader responsible for providing visible, professional and operational leadership across the Urgent Care Centre, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality and person-centred care. The post holder will lead on patient safety, clinical governance, quality improvement and workforce development, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous learning.
Working collaboratively with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues, the Matron will ensure that quality, patient experience and regulatory compliance remain at the heart of service delivery. They will oversee clinical standards, risk management, service improvement initiatives and quality assurance processes, whilst supporting and developing multidisciplinary teams to achieve outstanding patient outcomes.
As a role model for compassionate leadership and professional practice, the Matron will champion evidence-based care, innovation and service transformation, fostering an environment where staff are empowered to deliver the highest standards of care and contribute to the ongoing improvement of urgent care services.

You will
Provide strategic and operational nursing leadership across the Urgent Care Centre, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, responsive and compassionate care.
Lead quality improvement, clinical assurance and patient safety initiatives, embedding a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Promote and maintain high standards of professional nursing practice, ensuring compliance with NMC/HCPC standards, organisational policies and national guidance.
Lead on clinical governance activities, including incident management, risk reduction, audits, complaints, patient feedback, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
Monitor and improve quality metrics, clinical outcomes and patient experience, using data and evidence to drive service improvements.
Act as a visible and accessible leader, providing professional support, supervision and guidance to multidisciplinary team members.
Foster a culture of compassionate, person-centred care that prioritises dignity, respect, inclusion and patient involvement.
Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring and succession planning, enabling colleagues to achieve their full potential.
Develop and empower leaders at all levels, promoting accountability, innovation and professional excellence.
Work in partnership with medical, operational and corporate teams to ensure effective service delivery, workforce planning and achievement of organisational objectives.
Ensure effective management of clinical risk, infection prevention and control, medicines management and safeguarding responsibilities within the service.
Lead preparations for, and maintain compliance with, Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and other regulatory requirements.
Champion evidence-based practice, innovation and service transformation to improve patient outcomes and operational effectiveness.
Contribute to organisational strategy and the development of services that meet the changing needs of patients and the local health system.
Participate in the senior on-call rota, providing out-of-hours leadership, decision-making and escalation support to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
Accountability
The Matron is accountable for maintaining high standards of clinical care, patient safety, workforce performance and governance within the Urgent Care Centre, ensuring services are delivered in line with organisational values, regulatory requirements and best practice standards.
Other Requirements
Ability to work in a fasted paced environment with priorities changing frequently.
Positively always represent EBPC.
High standards must be maintained in all dealings with managers, doctors, nurses, staff and non EBPC personnel to ensure that a professional image of EBPC is always preserved.
You are required to deal with any real or potential safety hazards. Where doubt exists, the On Call Duty Manager is to be informed.
EBPC maintains a no smoking policy on premises and grounds.
