Job Description: The role will support the Applied Controls Vision Department with technical capabilities in the programming and evaluation of industrial vision systems. Support the sales team in efforts to evaluate customer samples to determine the best vision system for a project. Be an active participant at customer factory sales visits as SICK Vision hardware expert.
The Position will provide high level industrial programming, specifically in Vision Automation. Required to interface with multiple automation systems and have a strong understanding on industrial communication protocols. On-site programming support with potential multiday travel will be required as needed. Regular customer communication to ensure clear expectations. Strong willingness to learn new hardware and software as ACI continues to build its hardware portfolio. Display commitment and passion for the success of the Applied Controls Inc.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Industrial Programming expertise
Computer programming Vision System Programming PLC/HMI Programming knowledge Understanding of industrial communication methods
Machine Vision Experience
Capability to evaluate varieties of lighting methods General understanding of vision lensing and effects on an image Capability to do basic control voltage wiring Maintain a current understanding Applied Controls primary product lines Understanding of industry’s safety requirements
Customer Management
Maintain Strong relations with Applied Controls customers Ensure regular status updates and communication with customers Provide high level customer service
Company Knowledge
Understand all position appropriate company & vendor processes and systems (Siemens, Sick, UR) Meeting etiquette (understand who’s participating, who should participate, meeting location, expected outcome, who’s documenting or notetaking, follow-up actions)
Product training
Maintain training certifications as required Support off-site and on-site trainings as required Support and train internal employees on Applied Controls systems and hardware.
Physical Effort & Travel:
Regular lifting of objects under 40lbs Occasional lifting of object over 40lbs Regular standing and walking within customer facilities up to full days on feet Regular travel to customer sites within the mid-Atlantic region Occasional overnight and travel outside of the region Company vehicles and personal vehicles will be utilized for travel

Capability of learning on the job and adapting to requirements. Flexibility to fulfill requests as provided by manager on a timely manner Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Engineering or Software)
Metrics:
Weekly measurement of time utilization (ie. Billable vs. non-billable hours) Monthly measurement of predictive time accuracy.
