The role

This campus-based role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Library Customer Services Team, delivering accessible and inclusive front-line services to students and researchers across the University.

Library Support is a dedicated team within Customer Services providing support to students with a wide range of disabilities, learning differences and health conditions. The team also supports students who may have limited time on campus, including part-time students, and those with caring responsibilities.

What will you be doing?

Responsibilities include:

Meeting with students who have been recommended for additional support through in-person drop-ins, appointments, and online meetings. Managing enquiries and support referrals received through a busy shared mailbox. Providing tailored assistance through services such as book collection and scanning. Obtaining, adapting, or creating accessible library resources to enhance access for disabled students. Supporting students in making effective use of library and study spaces, including facilitating access to dedicated Library Support study areas. Helping to maintain Library Support study spaces and reporting any issues to ensure they remain welcoming and accessible. Assisting with Library Support events, library tours, and workshops. Gathering and collating student feedback to inform service development and improvements.

You should apply if

Have excellent communication and customer service skills, offering support with professionalism and sensitivity. Have experience of working in a busy, customer-facing environment, and can effectively triage IT-related issues to help students succeed in a blended learning environment. Have a strong interest in technology and enjoy exploring digital tools and applications that enhance the student learning experience. Are confident using spreadsheets and other digital systems to record and manage information accurately and responsibly. Enjoy finding practical solutions, working as part of a team, and delivering a welcoming, inclusive service that helps students succeed.
