Job Purpose This position will support our Sustainability Team as a Summer Intern from May 2027 – August 2027 and will be based in Nashville, Tennessee. This is a paid, full-time internship. We are seeking a curious and motivated individual who is interested in learning about corporate responsibility and sustainability within the manufacturing and building products industries, and how sustainability initiatives can drive business performance, stakeholder value, and long-term growth. In this position you will have the opportunity to: Lead a summer project to evaluate energy intensity and emissions intensity (per MSF) across manufacturing facilities. Develop recommendations to support CAPEX investment decisions that improve operational efficiency, lower costs, and advance LP's sustainability objectives. Analyze environmental and operational data from LP manufacturing facilities. Identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Evaluate opportunities to increase renewable energy adoption across LP's manufacturing network by assessing the feasibility of on-site solar projects Analyze facility-level electricity consumption and utility cost data. Research federal, state, and local incentives that may impact solar project economics. Develop a scorecard to rank mills based on solar project feasibility and potential return on investment. Help calculate potential greenhouse gas emission reductions from solar installations. Gain hands-on experience applying sustainability concepts to real-world operational challenges. Learn how sustainability data supports strategic decision-making and capital investment (CAPEX) planning. Develop skills in data analysis, research, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Work alongside cross-functional teams, including Environmental, Finance, Operations, and Public Policy, to support sustainability initiatives. What do I need to be successful?
