The Sizewell C Jobs Service supports local people into exciting, long-term careers across our Project.#SZCJobs Health & Safety Manager (Sizewell C) Wilson James Sizewell C Job Responsibilities • Lead the health and safety function across the Sizewell C LLP programme and act as the principal H&S adviser to the Head of Programme Delivery. • Develop, maintain and implement H&S plans, procedures and arrangements aligned with legislation, Wilson James systems and Sizewell C requirements. • Provide visible leadership and coach managers and supervisors to maintain clear ownership of operational health and safety. • Deliver a risk-based programme of audits, inspections and assurance across Wilson James, partner and subcontractor activities. • Provide assurance over risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and controls for significant operational hazards. • Lead or support incident and near-miss investigations, establish root causes and ensure corrective actions and lessons learned are closed out. • Maintain H&S performance measures, trend analysis, risk reporting and clear escalation through programme governance. • Support mobilisation, operational readiness and change so appropriate H&S controls are established before work commences. • Monitor and challenge H&S performance across delivery partners, contractors and subcontractors, including interface risks between organisations. • Support emergency preparedness and response in conjunction with Security & Emergency Preparedness, Operations and other assurance functions. • Maintain effective relationships with Sizewell C and Wilson James H&S stakeholders and challenge or stop work where required controls are absent. Other duties and responsibilities • Work in accordance with: o Wilson James policies, site procedures and training provided o Wilson James core values: We are fair and honest in all our activities; We treat each other with dignity and respect; We are responsible for all our actions and accountable for their consequences; We have an environment that enables and supports effective communication; We will continuously develop safe systems of work to ensure no one is placed at risk in our workplaces. o Customer policies • Carry out any other reasonable request as required by your Line Manager or the Customer Qualifications Essential • NEBOSH Diploma, Level 6 NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, or an equivalent recognised professional qualification. • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and the ability to translate requirements into practical operational controls. • A recognised incident investigation qualification or demonstrable equivalent competence in leading formal investigations. • Ability to satisfy all Sizewell C security, vetting and site access requirements. • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between programme locations as required. Desirable • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH), or actively progressing toward Chartered status. • Degree or other higher-level qualification in occupational health and safety, risk management or a related discipline. o A working knowledge of: o ISO 45001 management systems, auditing and assurance o Major infrastructure, construction logistics, warehouse and transport operations o Lifting operations, work equipment, workplace transport and contractor management o Emergency preparedness, occupational health and behavioural safety programmes Experience • Significant senior H&S experience within major infrastructure, construction, logistics or a comparable operational environment. • Strong practical knowledge of warehouse, transport, workplace traffic, materials handling and on-site logistics risks. • Experience working across multi-contractor or partner-led operations with complex interfaces. • Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation, risk management and CDM 2015. • Proven experience delivering risk-based audits, inspections and assurance and closing actions. • Strong incident investigation capability, including root cause analysis and lessons learned. • Experience influencing senior leaders, operational managers, contractors and client stakeholders through constructive professional challenge. • Ability to analyse H&S performance information, identify emerging trends and present concise, evidence-based management reporting. • Experience supporting mobilisation, operational readiness and significant change within a complex programme or live operation. • Pragmatic and solutions focused, with the judgement to balance operational delivery with independent professional assurance.
