Role Overview: The Senior Director of Operations is a key leadership role within Asset Operations, with responsibility for Regional Field Operations across EDPR North America's renewable operating portfolio. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President – Asset Operations/RGA, this leader is accountable for the safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the fleet while building the organizational capabilities required to support continued growth. The Senior Director will lead a large, geographically dispersed organization and is expected to be both an operational leader and a change agent. This role will assess existing operating models, processes, organizational structures, and ways of working; identify opportunities for significant improvement; and lead cross-functional transformation initiatives from concept through implementation and sustained adoption. Success requires a leader who can develop high-performing leaders and teams, establish clear accountability, apply continuous improvement and structured problem-solving methodologies, use data to drive decisions, and translate strategy into measurable operational results. The Senior Director must be highly effective at working across organizational boundaries and influencing stakeholders at all levels to implement changes that improve safety, reliability, availability, cost, productivity, and organizational effectiveness. What You Will Be Doing: Championing a proactive safety culture across all field operations and contractor activities, ensuring consistent compliance with company standards while developing leaders who actively own and improve safety performance Driving improvements in asset availability, reliability, generation, OPEX, work execution, and overall fleet performance through disciplined performance management Applying Lean Six Sigma, structured problem-solving, process-mapping, root-cause analysis, and other continuous-improvement methodologies to identify waste, reduce process variation, improve efficiency, standardize best practices, and deliver measurable operational and financial improvements Establishing and maintaining meaningful operational KPIs, leading indicators, performance reviews, and accountability mechanisms that translate into actionable business decisions Ensuring significant performance gaps and recurring operational issues are addressed through structured root-cause analysis, corrective actions, clear ownership, and disciplined follow-through to sustainable resolution Serve as a change leader for Asset Operations, identifying and leading large-scale organizational, process, technology, and operating-model improvements required to support the continued growth and evolution of the business Develop effective change-management strategies that build stakeholder alignment, communicate the case for change, address organizational resistance, and ensure successful adoption across geographically dispersed teams Partner with leaders across Asset Operations and other business functions to translate strategic priorities into executable initiatives with clearly defined owners, milestones, success measures, and governance Lead and govern major improvement initiatives from problem identification and business-case development through implementation, adoption, ensuring clear ownership, milestones, metrics, and accountability through completion. Lead, coach, and develop senior operational leaders responsible for approximately 200 employees across a geographically dispersed organization. Build a strong leadership pipeline through succession planning, talent assessment, coaching, development planning, and intentional creation of growth opportunities for high-potential employees. Establish clear expectations and accountability for leaders while fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, ownership, inclusion, and continuous learning. Build strong partnerships across Asset Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, People & Organization, Health & Safety, IT/Digital, Legal, Development, Construction, Asset Management, and other business functions. Lead complex cross-functional initiatives where successful execution requires alignment across multiple departments, competing priorities, and shared accountability. Influence effectively without direct authority, building alignment around business priorities and resolving organizational barriers that impede operational performance. Represent Operations in major business initiatives and ensure operational requirements, field perspectives, lifecycle costs, maintainability, and lessons learned are incorporated into enterprise decisions Develop and continuously evaluate O&M strategies, including self-performance, OEM service, and third-party service models, based on safety, capability, risk, performance, and economics. Ensure service-provider and OEM contracts are actively managed against clearly defined performance expectations, contractual obligations, KPIs, and corrective actions Additional duties as required Travel: As needed 20-30% Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience. 10+ years of progressively responsible operations, maintenance, engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or asset-management experience, including 5+ years leading managers and multi-layer organizations Demonstrated experience leading large, geographically dispersed, multi-site operations within a complex matrix organization Proven experience leading significant organizational transformation or enterprise-scale implementation initiatives, involving changes to processes, systems, organizational structures, or ways of working. Demonstrated success developing leaders, building succession pipelines, managing organizational performance, and improving team capability. Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving multiple departments and senior stakeholders. Proven track record using structured continuous-improvement/problem-solving methodologies to deliver measurable improvements in safety, reliability, quality, cost, productivity, or organizational effectiveness. Strong business and financial acumen with experience managing budgets, evaluating business cases, and translating operational improvements into financial value. Executive-level communication and presentation skills Preferred: 5+ years renewable-energy/power-generation experience. Utility-scale wind, solar and/or BESS O&M experience. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent demonstrated continuous-improvement leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading enterprise change-management initiatives Experience leading ERP, CMMS, EAM, digital, automation, or other large-scale technology/process implementations. MBA, master's degree, or advanced technical degree. Experience managing both self-perform and outsourced/OEM service models.
