A Brief Overview

The Executive Director, Market Intelligence is accountable for establishing and leading the global market intelligence agenda for Merz Aesthetics, integrating competitive intelligence, consumer and HCP insights, market research, forecasting, global pricing guidance, and external market trend interpretation into the Global Marketing strategy. The role serves as an organization-wide expert and strategic advisor to the Chief Marketing Officer, Global Marketing, regional commercial leadership, and the Global Leadership Team by translating complex internal and external market signals into actionable strategic recommendations that guide long-term business direction, portfolio decisions, launch readiness, pricing governance, and performance management.The Executive Director is expected to anticipate market, competitive, customer, regulatory, and financial dynamics that may materially affect the business and to guide senior stakeholders through ambiguity, trade-offs, and enterprise-level decision points. The role delivers broad, sustainable business impact by shaping functional strategy, and enabling major strategic choices.

What You Will Do

• Competitive Intelligence:

• Establish and lead the global competitive intelligence strategy, including governance, standards, analytical frameworks, and executive-ready interpretation of competitor financial performance, product development activity, launches, commercial strategy, pricing behavior, market access developments, customer dynamics, and other external signals that may affect enterprise strategy.

• Translate competitive developments into strategic scenarios, implications, and recommended actions for the Chief Marketing Officer, Global Marketing, regional commercial leadership, and the Global Leadership Team.

• Own quarterly and ad hoc competitive briefings that identify material risks, opportunities, and choices requiring executive alignment.

• Strategic Preparation:

• Own and institutionalize global strategic preparedness processes, including cross-functional war-gaming, scenario planning, launch threat assessment, and response planning for material competitive, market, portfolio, and customer shifts. Lead senior cross-functional teams across regions, Medical Affairs, R&D, Innovation, Finance, and Marketing to evaluate strategic alternatives, quantify business implications, and recommend enterprise-level response options.

• Build repeatable planning frameworks that strengthen organizational readiness for competitive launches, market disruptions, new evidence, pricing pressure, regulatory developments, and changes in customer or HCP behavior. Ensure outputs are incorporated into business planning, brand strategy, portfolio decisions, launch readiness, and executive decision forums.

• Market Research:

• Set the global market research and insight strategy, including standards for ATU, brand health tracking, customer and HCP insight generation, market sizing, market share analysis, sales force sizing inputs, and strategic research design across key global markets.

• Serve as the senior enterprise advisor for market research quality, methodology, prioritization, and interpretation.

• Translate quantitative and qualitative insights into strategic recommendations that inform global and regional brand strategy, portfolio prioritization, innovation choices, commercial investment, launch planning, and long-range business planning. Ensure that market research outputs are comparable, actionable, and consistently applied across regions and functions.

• Business KPI Tracking:

• Design and own the global commercial performance intelligence framework, including KPI architecture, executive reporting standards, data interpretation principles, and governance for business performance tracking across global and regional stakeholders. Define the critical metrics, analytical cadence, escalation triggers, and decision points required to support senior leadership visibility into business performance, market performance, and strategic execution.

• Partner with Finance, regional commercial teams, and Global Marketing to ensure KPI outputs are accurate, actionable, and linked to business priorities, strategic plans, pricing decisions, portfolio choices, and resource allocation discussions. Provide executive-level interpretation of performance trends, root causes, risks, and recommended strategic actions.

• Pricing:

• Establish and govern global pricing intelligence principles for strategic brands across regions, including minimum pricing corridor recommendations, ASP and pricing performance reporting, competitive pricing interpretation, and strategic pricing guidance for senior leadership decision-making. Partner with Finance, regional commercial leaders, and the Chief Marketing Officer to evaluate pricing risks, trade-offs, and opportunities across Aesthetics and Therapeutics.

• Provide enterprise-level recommendations on pricing alignment, market implications, competitive response, and financial impact, ensuring pricing intelligence informs long-range planning, commercial strategy, and portfolio decision-making.

• Product Development Forecasting:

• Support Strategic Marketing Leads & Innovation Leads in developing a single source of R&D Business Case forecasts in order to ensure consistency and forecast accountability.

• Advise senior stakeholders on forecast risks, market assumptions, competitive scenarios, adoption dynamics, financial implications, and strategic trade-offs. Ensure forecasting outputs are integrated into portfolio prioritization, investment decisions, launch planning, and long-range strategic planning.

• Trends:

• Anticipate, synthesize, and translate global market, customer, HCP, competitor, regulatory, technology, and commercial trends into strategic implications for the business, portfolio, innovation agenda, and pipeline. Establish a structured trend intelligence process that enables senior leadership to understand emerging opportunities, risks, and required strategic responses.

• Serve as a senior thought partner to Global Marketing, R&D, Innovation, Medical Affairs, Finance, regions, and the Global Leadership Team by connecting external market evolution to internal capability needs, investment choices, portfolio direction, and long-term business performance.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

• 15+ years experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering market intelligence strategies and plans in a mid-large complex organization

• Local marketing/brand management of a product at the country level

• leadership experience in leading a diverse function or team

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree MBA or similar graduate degree

Technical & Functional Skills

• Strategic agility and planning orientation, with ability to clearly and convincingly articulate strategy and plans

• Strong analytical understanding of data and ability to report data in an actionable and thorough manner

• Strong understanding of customer insight and research while also knowing how to put “insight into action”

• Knowledge of multiple marketing disciplines, a strong marketing generalist with experience gained in an operative local marketing function as well as in a strategic headquarter function

• Experience in leading complex cross-functional teams and known for being a strong collaborator

• Strong external focus resulting in good understanding of competitor strategy, tactics and implications for brand

• Ability to manage conflicting points of view and arrive quickly at a solution that is in the best interests of the brand/business

• Profound leadership experience and cross-cultural competency

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and comfort with large variety of online meeting tools and AV equipment
