About this role

Join Ventia in a role that supports the maintenance and operational readiness of Australia's Defence Force. An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Fitter to join our Defence Maintenance Contract team at HMAS Stirling, Garden Island WA. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will undertake maintenance, repair, inspection and overhaul activities within the Torpedo Maintenance Facility. Working within a skilled team environment, you'll play an important role in supporting the maintenance and operational readiness of specialised Defence equipment. Benefits

About the role

• Perform maintenance, servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance activities within the Torpedo Maintenance Facility. • Inspect equipment and complete repairs in accordance with technical manuals and work instructions. • Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced components. • Operate workshop machinery and equipment to support maintenance activities. • Coordinate and supervise non-technical support personnel undertaking maintenance support activities. • Complete maintenance documentation and maintain high safety and quality standards. About you

• Trade Certificate III as a Fitter & Turner, Engineering Mechanical or similar. • Demonstrated experience in mechanical maintenance and repair activities. • Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications. • Current Australian Driver's Licence. • Experience working on Defence, marine, heavy industrial or mobile plant equipment is highly regarded. • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and quality workmanship. • Current Dogging, Rigging and Forklift licences/tickets are highly regarded, or the willingness and ability to obtain them. • Be willing and able to successfully complete all required pre-employment checks, including but not limited to a Police Check and medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing). You must be an Australian Citizen and be able to maintain a current Defence Security Clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1).
