Job Title: Quality InspectorJob DescriptionThe Quality Inspector ensures that fabricated assembly components and finished goods produced at the manufacturing facility meet current acceptable manufacturing practices and internal specifications. This role focuses on performing manual and automated quality assurance checks on in-process components and finished goods, including detailed visual and dimensional inspections of machined components, lasered and formed parts, welded assemblies, and subassemblies to verify conformance with bills of materials, manufacturing standard work, QA instructions, approved samples, and engineering blueprints.Responsibilities
• Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections on machined components, lasered and formed parts, welded assemblies, and subassemblies to ensure they meet internal specifications and quality standards. • Conduct manual and automated quality assurance checks on in-process components and finished goods, including first-piece and full inspections and physical testing as required. • Monitor production areas to confirm that quality products are being produced in compliance with visual standards, dimensional specifications, gauging requirements, documentation standards, print specifications, bills of materials, and established quality inspection policies and procedures. • Use a wide variety of gauges, tools, and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, fixed gauges, and coordinate measurement equipment to verify product conformance. • Read and interpret engineered drawings, blueprints, procedure manuals, safety rules, operating instructions, and QA instructions to guide inspection activities and ensure proper execution of quality requirements. • Investigate nonconforming product and quality issues, perform root cause analysis where appropriate, and prepare corrective action reports to support continuous improvement. • Confer regularly with operators, supervisors, and engineering to communicate quality standards, address quality concerns, and reinforce compliance with manufacturing and inspection requirements. • Prioritize incoming purchased items and in-process jobs to align inspection activities with production needs and changing business demands, often with minimal notice. • Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results, measurements, and quality checks in accordance with company procedures and quality policies. • Follow instructions and comply with established policies and procedures related to quality, safety, and production processes. • Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner to avoid injury to self or others. • Adapt to changes in the work environment and adjust priorities as needed to support production schedules and customer requirements. • Collaborate effectively with Planning, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and other departments to address quality compliance issues and support cross-functional initiatives. • Utilize computer applications such as MS Office Suite and, when applicable, SAP or other systems to record data, track inspections, and support quality reporting. • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall quality assurance function. • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and respond to internal demands in a timely manner. • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to work effectively with operators, supervisors, and cross-functional teams. • Ability to prioritize incoming purchased items and in-process jobs and adjust priorities based on business needs with minimal notice. • Proficiency with a wide variety of dimensional measurement equipment, including calipers, coordinate measurement machines, micrometers, bore gauges, inside micrometers, height gauges, and fixed gauges. • Blueprint reading capability and the ability to interpret engineered drawings and print specifications. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, safety rules, operating instructions, and QA instructions. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to compute ratios and percentages. • Strong understanding of quality concepts, requirements, and acceptable manufacturing practices. • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand fluent English. • Basic fundamental understanding of mathematics applicable to inspection and measurement tasks. • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while completing work in a timely manner. • Ability to follow instructions and comply consistently with policies and procedures. • Effective time management skills to handle multiple inspection tasks and shifting priorities. • Commitment to good housekeeping practices and maintaining an organized work area. • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and remain flexible when priorities change. • Excellent interpersonal skills to address quality compliance issues with departments such as Planning, Production, Purchasing, and Engineering. • Safety and quality consciousness, consistently working in a manner that protects people and product integrity. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $22.00/hr.
