About this role

Job Title: Packaging Line WorkerJob DescriptionThe Packaging Line Worker operates production and packaging equipment, performs assembly and labeling tasks, conducts basic quality checks, and ensures products are accurately packaged. In some areas, this role also completes minor equipment set-up and supports smooth, efficient production on the packaging line. Responsibilities • Operate slitter and other packaging line machinery in a safe and efficient manner. • Perform assembly tasks to prepare products and materials for packaging. • Apply labels accurately and consistently according to production specifications. • Conduct basic quality control checks to verify product and packaging meet standards. • Complete packaging activities, including boxing, bagging, and sealing, as required. • Assist with minor equipment set-up and adjustments to support production runs. • Handle materials and products throughout the production process, including loading, unloading, and staging. • Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times. • Work collaboratively in teams of 23 or 34 to meet production goals and maintain workflow. • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support a safe and efficient environment. • Support production demands by working overtime when required based on volume. Essential Skills • At least 2 years of machine operation and/or packaging experience. • At least 6 months of prior warehouse experience or equivalent experience. • Experience with machine operation in a production environment. • Experience with packaging and assembly tasks. • Experience with material handling in a warehouse or production setting. • Possess strong manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination. • Possess basic reading, writing, and math skills to follow instructions and complete documentation. • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team on a production line. • Ability to follow safety guidelines and consistently use required PPE. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Comfort working with mechanical equipment and learning minor set-up procedures. • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in a production environment. • Reliability in attendance and punctuality to support production schedules. • Willingness to work overtime based on production volume. • Previous experience in a clean manufacturing or packaging environment is beneficial. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a clean production environment where work is performed in small teams of 23 or 34, fostering close collaboration and support. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime required as needed based on production volume. The dress code includes jeans or other durable work pants; leggings and sweatpants are not permitted. All required personal protective equipment must be worn, including safety glasses, nitrile gloves, and cut-resistant gloves. Workers must provide their own steel toe boots. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflow on the packaging line. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
