Job Title: CNC MachinistJob DescriptionThis role focuses on setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision components for aerospace and semiconductor applications. You will interpret blueprints, perform true machining (not just machine operation), and ensure all parts meet strict quality and safety standards in a modern, climate-controlled facility. Responsibilities • Study blueprints, sketches, sequences of operations, and setup requirements to determine machining processes and specifications. • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on CNC machines to machine parts as required. • Calculate and set machine controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut. • Enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures. • Start and observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as needed. • Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using appropriate measuring and inspection tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. • Set up and operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data before full production. • Perform true machining, including complete setups and runs, rather than only button-pushing or basic operation. • Work with Mazak CNC machines, including lathe and millturn equipment, to produce complex parts on 35 axis and up to 7-axis machines. • Clean machinery regularly and maintain a clean, organized work area to support safety and efficiency. • Adhere to all safety procedures at all times while working in machining and assembly areas. • Collaborate and confer with production personnel, programmers, and other team members to resolve machining or assembly problems and improve processes. Essential Skills • High School Diploma or GED. • 3+ years of recent CNC machining experience. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches for machining operations. • Hands-on experience working with Mazak CNC machines. • Background in CNC lathe operations. • Millturn machining Background. • Experience with 35 axis machining; exposure to 4 and 5 axis strongly preferred, with 3 axis considered. • Ability to perform complete CNC setups, runs, and adjustments for true machining work. • Proficiency using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify part conformity. • Experience with Fanuc controls; ability to operate CNC machines using these control systems. • Experience or strong capability with Mazatrol programming, particularly SmoothX Controls. • Ability to follow and consistently adhere to safety procedures in a machining environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with Mazak 35 axis machining combined with CNC lathe work. • Familiarity with 7-axis machining operations. • Comfort working with Haas and other CNC equipment in a machining and assembly facility. • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machining and assembly issues with production and programming teams. • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workstation. • Ability to work a consistent first shift schedule (Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a modern, climate-controlled machining and assembly facility in Wichita, Kansas. The workspace is bright, with all-LED lighting, and designed for comfort and precision work. You work primarily on first shift, Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., using advanced CNC technologies including Mazak (lathe and millturn), Fanuc-controlled machines, and Mazatrol SmoothX Controls, with capabilities up to 7-axis machining. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and orderly work areas, supporting both machining and assembly processes in a professional production setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $58240.00/yr.
