Job Title: Shipping and Receiving AssociateJob DescriptionThe Shipping and Receiving Associate works in a warehouse environment performing general labor and production duties while ensuring accurate and efficient movement of materials and finished products. This role focuses on shipping and receiving, inventory tracking, and supporting manufacturing operations through careful handling, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration. Responsibilities • Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy against bills of lading and other shipping documents. • Check bills of lading on incoming materials to ensure all items and quantities are correct. • Verify shipping ledgers and documentation for outgoing products to ensure orders are accurate before they leave the facility. • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate material handling equipment. • Use warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners to track, update, and manage inventory in real time. • Perform general warehouse duties, including picking, packing, staging, and organizing materials and finished goods. • Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. • Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory control to maintain accurate warehouse inventory records. • Operate sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in a safe and compliant manner. • Support supply chain and warehouse operations by ensuring timely order picking and shipment preparation. • Cross-train in production to understand the full scope of manufacturing and bottling processes and support as needed. • Collaborate with drivers, production staff, and office personnel to coordinate shipments and deliveries. • Follow established warehouse procedures and safety guidelines to maintain a clean, orderly, and secure work area. • Maintain reliable attendance, arriving on time and ready to work each scheduled shift. • Assist with unloading and loading of company fleet vehicles, including tractors, tankers, trailers, and straight trucks as required. Essential Skills • At least 2+ years of experience in shipping and receiving roles with demonstrated job tenure. • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in bottling or similar production operations. • Proficiency using warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners for inventory tracking. • Hands-on experience with inventory control, inventory management, and warehouse inventory processes. • Ability to read and verify bills of lading and other shipping documentation for accuracy. • Skilled in order picking, cycle counts, and general warehouse material handling. • Experience operating sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks safely in a warehouse setting. • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. • Strong reliability with consistent on-time attendance and commitment to scheduled work hours. • Basic understanding of supply chain and shipping and receiving workflows. • Attention to detail when checking incoming and outgoing orders to prevent errors. • Ability to work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in bottling manufacturing, wine or alcohol production, or related manufacturing industries is preferred. • Familiarity with material handling practices for liquids and packaged products. • Comfort working around a fleet of trucks, tractors, tankers, trailers, and straight trucks. • Willingness to cross-train in production to gain broader understanding of manufacturing processes. • Adaptability to seasonal schedule changes, including earlier start times in warmer months. • Strong work ethic and commitment to supporting both warehouse and production teams. • Good communication skills to coordinate with production staff, office personnel, sales, and drivers. • Ability to follow established procedures and safety protocols in a fast-paced environment. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a manufacturing and warehouse facility with approximately 2530 employees in production and 810 office staff, including sales and operations personnel. The environment includes a dedicated warehouse team and a company-owned fleet consisting of multiple drivers, tractors, tankers for wine and alcohol, a trailer, and a 28-foot straight truck. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays as needed. Employees receive a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks at approximately 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. During the summer, the schedule adjusts to an earlier shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to reduce exposure to heat. The work involves regular use of forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and WMS systems in an active warehouse setting, with frequent lifting and movement of materials. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of COCKEYSVILLE, MD. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
