Job Title: MES EngineerJob DescriptionThe MES Engineer will support division engineering and capital projects by installing, integrating, and commissioning new automated equipment across expansion sites. This role focuses on control systems and manufacturing execution systems, combining hands-on PLC programming and troubleshooting with electrical design and industrial automation integration. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects in automotive, energy, industrial, and commercial and residential applications while working across multiple platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Ignition. Responsibilities • Install, integrate, and commission new automated equipment for expansion sites in collaboration with the division engineering team. • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and programming of PLC applications, including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and other industrial control platforms. • Use AutoCAD Electrical to design control panels, electrical schematics, and related documentation for automation projects. • Work cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines, skilled trades, and project managers to plan and execute control system projects. • Provide technical support for new industrial automated machinery, ensuring reliable operation and integration into existing systems. • Interface with technical resources and suppliers to identify, obtain, and procure electrical and control system components and spare parts. • Assist with the integration of machinery and control systems into the Ignition platform and other SCADA environments. • Support database management and machine data acquisition to improve visibility, reporting, and performance of automated equipment. • Contribute to control system design, including HMI configuration, ladder logic development, and control system architecture. • Troubleshoot control systems and automation equipment, diagnosing issues related to PLC logic, communication networks, and hardware. • Collaborate on project planning activities, including scope definition, scheduling, and coordination for capital projects. • Ensure that control system designs and implementations align with safety, reliability, and maintainability standards. Essential SkilOur Client • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Engineering, or a closely related field. • At least 5 years of experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs in an industrial automation environment. • Proficiency in PLC programming, including ladder logic and control system design for automated machinery. • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley and Rockwell Automation platforms for control and HMI systems. • Experience with Ignition or other SCADA platforms for monitoring, control, and data visualization. • Background in database management and machine data acquisition for industrial equipment. • Knowledge of ethernet networking and machine communication for integrating control systems and devices. • Ability to use AutoCAD Electrical for designing control panels and electrical schematics. • Strong troubleshooting skills for PLCs, HMIs, and control systems in a manufacturing or industrial setting. • Experience with control system engineering, including control system design and implementation. • Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial automation software such as FactoryTalk, Simatic WinCC, and Aveva. • Understanding of transformers, switchgear, and switchboards as they relate to industrial electrical systems. • Ability to work effectively in a project-based environment, supporting capital projects rather than day-to-day line support. Additional SkilOur Client & Qualifications • Experience with medium voltage equipment, including transformers, switchgears, and switchboards. • Project management experience, including coordinating timelines, resources, and deliverables for engineering projects. • Experience with Siemens PLCs and HMIs or other major automation platforms beyond Allen-Bradley. • Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, and Ignition platforms used in modern manufacturing environments. • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and technical stakeholders. • Ability to travel approximately 25% to various manufacturing and engineering sites as needed. • Interest in working within a capital projects team focused on long-term, project-based automation initiatives. • Ability to adapt to a global, multi-site environment supporting automotive, energy, industrial, and commercial and residential applications. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a combined office and factory environment, with most time spent designing and planning control system projects in an office setting and some time spent on the factory floor during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position involves working with industrial automation technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, ethernet networking, and electrical equipment such as transformers and switchgear. Approximately 25% travel is expected to various sites in Canada, Tennessee, and Franklin, Indiana to support project work and equipment integration. The environment is project-focused rather than reactive line support, offering opportunities to work on capital projects and advanced automation solutions. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $52.88/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
