Job Title: Assistant Supervisor for Construction ProjectsJob DescriptionThis role supports the supervision and coordination of construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project plans and quality standards. The Assistant Supervisor works closely with the site supervisor and construction teams to help manage daily operations and contribute to successful project delivery. Responsibilities • Support the lead supervisor in overseeing day-to-day construction activities on site. • Assist in coordinating construction crews, subcontractors, and onsite resources to maintain workflow and meet project timelines. • Help ensure that construction work aligns with project plans, specifications, and quality standards. • Monitor progress of construction tasks and promptly report issues, delays, or safety concerns to the supervisor. • Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by supporting adherence to safety procedures and guidelines. • Assist with basic documentation related to construction activities, such as daily logs or progress updates. • Communicate clearly with team members to relay instructions, clarify tasks, and support effective collaboration. • Support the supervisor in inspecting work areas to confirm that tasks are completed correctly and meet quality expectations. Essential Skills • Hands-on experience in construction environments. • Ability to support supervision of construction projects and teams. • Strong understanding of basic construction processes and onsite workflows. • Ability to follow project instructions and work under the guidance of a supervisor. • Clear communication skills for interacting with construction teams and stakeholders. • Attention to detail when observing work quality and site conditions. • Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to safety guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience assisting a supervisor or foreperson on construction projects. • Basic knowledge of construction documentation such as daily reports or progress records. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented construction environment. • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as project needs evolve. Work EnvironmentThis position is based on active construction sites, where work takes place around ongoing building activities, materials handling, and equipment use. The role involves working outdoors and indoors depending on project needs and may require standing, walking, and moving around the site for extended periods. The work environment is fast-paced and team-oriented, with a focus on safety, clear communication, and cooperation among all onsite personnel. Appropriate construction site attire and protective gear are required in line with safety standards. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Virginia Beach, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
