Job Purpose: Operate flame-cutting equipment to dismantle railcars and various scrap materials in an industrial setting

Key Job Elements: Operate commercial cutting torch to process railcars and various scrap materials to required specifications; Connect and turn regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure to that desired flames are obtained; Signal heavy equipment operators to move large work pieces; Perform basic maintenance as needed; Effectively communicate with team members; Complete daily inspection and record keeping of tools and equipment.

Education / Training: 1-2 years of experience or Technical Certification;

Qualifications and Experience: Strength – Able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance; Motion – Employee will stand for the majority of the shift, may kneel, squat and climb steps frequently throughout the day; Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must be able to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness. The ability to see details at close range or at a distance; Work Environment – Work in all weather conditions; Emotional Demands – Job requires use of logic and reasoning in order to process materials in a safe and efficient manner; Safety – Position is a safety sensitive position. Position requires following all safety procedures, policies and PPE requirements such that include hand, head, eye, hand, ear and foot protection.
