Job Description: The Role BAE Systems is seeking a strategic Sr. Manager, HR Compliance, to join our HR Compliance team. This is a high-impact, enterprise-wide leadership role designed for a professional who excels at the intersection of employment law, corporate governance, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Sr. Director of HR Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of human resources compliance programs. This role ensures that the organization adheres to federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as internal corporate governance and defense industry regulations.

Your Impact As the subject matter expert for HR compliance, your influence will be felt across the entire employee lifecycle. You will lead the strategy for workplace accommodations (ADA, PWFA), ensuring that our approach to inclusivity and accessibility is consistent, fair, and legally sound. From overseeing the critical execution of Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs) and managing complex government reporting—including specialized mandates in California and Massachusetts—to governing our employee record retention and policy standards, your work will mitigate risk and protect the organization’s reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Oversight & Governance • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and interpret changes in federal, state, and local employment legislation and partners with the business, COEs, legal, and other stakeholders on the implementation of those laws. • Reporting: Oversee the development and execution of 503 and VEVRAA Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs). Manage all government reporting obligations, including specialized state mandates such as the California and Massachusetts Pay Reports. • Employment Lifecycle Compliance: Provide oversight for I-9/E-Verify processes, compliant onboarding procedures, and the management of state and local notices, including the distribution and maintenance of employment posters. • Workplace Accommodations: Lead the enterprise-wide strategy for workplace accommodations (ADA, PWFA, state and local), establishing standardized processes and guidelines to ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant outcomes. Serve as the escalation point for complex cases and the interactive process. • Training & Vendors: Oversee HR Training initiatives related to compliance and managing third-party Vendor Management relationships to ensure service providers meet regulatory standards. Audit & Risk Management • Pay Analyses: Lead the Company’s annual pay non-discrimination analyses to mitigate legal risk. • Internal Audits: Design and execute internal compliance audits and lead the response for external EEO regulatory audits or government inquiries, where required. • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments on new HR initiatives to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and provide recommendations to the Sr. Director, HR Compliance on potential risk mitigation. Strategic Liaison & Partnership • Serve as the primary compliance liaison to key internal partners, including Talent Attraction & Growth (TAG), Total Rewards, and Segment HR (P&S and AMS), ensuring compliance is integrated into all HR operational workflows. People Management & Leadership • Lead, mentor, and develop the Principal, HR Compliance Support, providing regular coaching and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities. • Allocate resources and manage workload distribution across the team to ensure all compliance deadlines and operational requirements are met. • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high ethical standards within the compliance team.

Required Skills and Education: • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education or experience. • Experience: 10+ years of experience in HR compliance, employment law, or corporate governance, preferably within a large global organization. • Compliance Expertise: Deep, demonstrable knowledge of employment laws (federal, state, and local) and a proven track record of managing large-scale compliance requirements across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, particularly for organizations in highly regulated industries. • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect complex regulations and apply them to practical business scenarios. • Integrity: Unwavering commitment to ethical standards and the ability to handle sensitive, confidential information. • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation and auditing to ensure zero-defect compliance. • Communication: Ability to communicate legal requirements clearly to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in the Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI). Experience with PeopleSoft and ServiceNow.

Preferred Skills and Education: • Certification: SPHR, PHR, or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desirable. • Digital Literacy: Understanding of how AI and automation impact the modern workplace and the ability to manage the risks associated with HR tech optimization. • Operational Agility: Superior time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to navigate complex internal demands and adapt to rapidly changing circumstances.
