Safety and Compliance Engineer
Job Description: WRC Technologies is seeking an experienced Safety and Compliance Engineer to support high-power RF field and range testing for a priority defense program. The role will develop and implement safety procedures, evaluate field-test locations, support the safe transport and handling of large test equipment, and help ensure compliance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements, including FCC licensing activities. Candidates should have 10+ years of relevant safety, compliance, or RF engineering experience and experience supporting high-power RF field or range operations. U.S. citizenship and an active security clearance or the ability to obtain one are required.
Required Experience: 10+ years of relevant safety, compliance, or RF engineering experience, or equivalent. Experience supporting high-power RF safety in field or range-testing environments. Experience with the safe transport, handling, and testing of large equipment up to approximately 1,000 lbs.
Preferred Experience: Military project experience or service as a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Experience with AESAs, software-defined radios (SDRs), communications systems, unmanned platforms, or high-power RF systems.
Required Skills: Knowledge of high-power RF safety practices, field-test safety procedures, and regulatory/compliance requirements. Ability to evaluate field-test locations, develop and implement safety procedures, identify potential hazards, and support safe field operations. Familiarity with regulatory bodies and FCC licensing requirements.
Preferred Skills: Understanding of RF/antenna systems, radar and communications technologies, range operations, and defense-related field testing. Strong technical documentation, risk assessment, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: U.S. citizenship required. Active security clearance or ability to obtain a clearance. Ability to travel domestically approximately one week per month for ~9 months. Responsibilities include developing and enforcing safety procedures for high-power RF operations, evaluating land and maritime test locations, reviewing engineering systems for safety and compliance considerations, supporting safe equipment transport and handling, monitoring regulatory compliance, assisting with FCC licensing documentation, and supporting field-test teams onsite.
