Research Assistant Professor (26270203)
The School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) at Hong Kong Baptist University is seeking a high calibre Research Assistant Professor to join in the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development (CDD), which is located in the Hong Kong Science Park.
Responsibilities:
• Design, lead, and publish hypothesis-driven clinical research on the new drug development; • Develop and submit grant proposals to secure extramural funding for clinical and translational research; • Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) or Sub-Investigator on multiple interventional trials, designing phase-appropriate trial protocols, overseeing patient recruitment, informed consent, protocol adherence, and data integrity, leading safety monitoring and DSMB reporting; • Integrate translational endpoints into trial designs to support go/no-go decisions and registration strategies; • Contribute to regulatory submissions (IND/CTA applications, NDA/BLA supporting documentation); • Supervise junior researchers and students; and • Undertake any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant biomedical field (e.g., Chinese medicine, pharmacology, immunology, or epidemiology., etc) from an accredited institution, with postdoctoral research experience preferred; • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in conducting clinical trials as a study leader or senior clinical scientist, especially with experience on Chinese medicine-related clinical studies; • Demonstrated capacity to independently design research protocols, interpret scientific findings, and maintain a strong publication record, and an established track record in obtaining external funding/research grants; • Innovative, self-motivated with good planning and organisational skills; • Team-oriented, with excellent communication skills; and • Good English communication skills and the ability to write clearly.
Work Location: Hong Kong Science Park and Hong Kong Baptist University
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract for up to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
