The Manager of Clinical Education is responsible for the administration and management of Patient Care Services (Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Pharmacy) orientation, computerized education tracking, electronic learning management system, audiovisual and classroom services, and continuing education programs. The Manager of Clinical Education is also responsible for overseeing the patient education effort for the organization.
Department Leadership & Operations
• Directs the activities of Staff Development/Education Services, including short- and long-term planning, goal setting, resource allocation, and evaluation of departmental effectiveness. • Ensures departmental policies, procedures, and operations meet applicable State, Joint Commission, and organizational requirements. • Provides fiscal oversight, including development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets, productivity, orientation labor, and supply costs; identifies opportunities for improvement. • Leads and manages staff in accordance with hospital policies, including coaching, development, performance management, recognition, and corrective action. • Serves as a leader and consultant in identifying needs, resolving problems, and developing and implementing strategic and operational plans. Education, Orientation & Professional Development
• Provides leadership and oversight for staff orientation, continuing education, and professional development programs. • Maintains American Heart Association training standards and coordinates BLS and ACLS training. • Oversees patient education efforts, promoting a consistent approach based on adult learning principles. • Incorporates current research and national practice trends into educational programs and practices. • Pursues ongoing professional development and models professionalism and continuous learning for staff. Continuing Education & Regulatory Compliance
• Serves as a UC Health Continuing Education Approver/Provider Unit for Patient Services disciplines. • Maintains applicable continuing education accreditation through the Ohio Board of Nursing and other licensing organizations, including RT, PT, OT, ST, and the Board of Pharmacy. • Ensures continuing education programs and records meet applicable licensing and accreditation criteria. • Develops annual goals and objectives for the Approver/Provider Unit and evaluates and summarizes its activities annually. Leadership, Collaboration & Communication
• Promotes effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving among staff, nursing leadership, Patient Services, physicians, departments, committees, and UC Health groups. • Serves as a liaison across departments and ensures effective communication channels between staff and management. • Creates an inclusive environment that values diversity, collaboration, coaching, accountability, goal achievement, and recognition. • Promotes UC Health core values as expectations for communication and professional practice. • Provides leadership for Patient Services division and hospital-wide projects, programs, committees, and initiatives. • Uses internal and external resources effectively to support departmental and organizational planning and priorities.
Minimum Required:
• Masters degree from an accredited school of nursing in Nursing, Education, or related field required. • Two to five years of experience relevant to patient /staff education. • Certification in Staff Development/Continuing Education preferred. • Must have a current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Ohio. • BLS Certification is required. Preferred:
• Membership in professional organizations is desirable. • Certification in area of specialty is desirable. Expected starting salary range for this position is between: $99,000 - $126,000 The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.
