Teaching and Education: You will be at the forefront of delivering engaging lectures, seminars, and practical sessions, ensuring that students receive a first-class education in occupational therapy. You will ensure curriculum content is current, relevant and reflective of the latest research, industry standards, and best practices. Supervision and mentorship of both undergraduate and postgraduate students will be vital, guiding them in their academic and professional development. You will utilise a range of teaching methods and technologies to enhance the learning experience, and your assessments and feedback will support student progression.
Your involvement will extend to designing and delivering interprofessional modules, ensuring that our curriculum remains relevant and forward-thinking. Research and Scholarship: You will be encouraged to contribute to high-quality research as part of this role, for example collaborating on interdisciplinary research initiatives with staff and students, creating a supportive and stimulating environment for their studies. Support to develop and/or extend your research profile will be available to publish your findings in peer-reviewed journals and to attend/present at conferences both nationally and internationally. Practice Placement Maintaining your professional registration and clinical practice, you will develop and sustain relationships with clinical partners, enhancing practice-based learning. Your clinical expertise will be integrated into both teaching and research activities. Continuous professional development will be key, ensuring that you remain current in the field of occupational therapy. Leadership and Administration: Your contributions will extend to the strategic development and management of the occupational therapy programme. Taking on administrative roles such as module leadership or placement coordination will be part of your duties. Mentoring junior academic staff and participating in quality assurance processes will help maintain high standards of education and research. Engaging in outreach and public engagement activities will promote the occupational therapy programme and the university. Support and Development: You will not be alone on this journey. Qualifications Essential
Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council Relevant Degree in Occupational Therapy (BSc/MSc)
Desirable
Experience of teaching/lecturing/facilitating learning Hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching or equivalent qualification, an HEA membership
Experience Essential
Evidence of ability to meet the teaching needs of the Occupational Therapy course. Possesses sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge to be able to effectively work within and contribute to the established teaching programmes. Experience of working within practice/relevant industry at an advanced level. Current links to relevant professional practice. Breadth of knowledge of the field through professional experience
