This is a high impact role where your work will directly contribute to saving and transforming lives.
As a Portfolio Analyst, you'll play a vital role in helping us make informed decisions about the projects and programmes that support our organisations strategic priorities. Working within the OTDT PMO, you'll provide expert analysis and insight across our investment portfolio, turning complex financial, resource and performance data into clear recommendations for senior leaders.
You'll develop meaningful dashboards, support portfolio governance, identify risks and dependencies, and help shape long-term transformation planning. Main duties of the job
As a Portfolio Analyst, the post holder will work as part of the dynamic Central Portfolio Office Management delivery team that has a reach across the whole organisation to manage the investment portfolio of project and programme, including transformational programmes that help improve and save lives. The Post holder is responsible providing value added analysis and insight over the organisation-wide portfolio during prioritisation, planning and delivery performance, to enable timely senior leadership and executive level decision making, including any interventions. The post holder will:
Be accountable for tracking and reporting on the health, status, and performance of the project and programme portfolio, in line with NHSBT standards, by developing dashboards against agreed KPIs to provide visibility to senior leadership that enable timely strategic intervention.Act as a subject matter expert on portfolio analysis, supporting and contributing to the overall delivery of programmes and projects, including the aggregation and assessment of risks, issues, dependencies and resource constraints at the portfolio level.Analyse financial, resource, and schedule data to support effective decision-making, ensuring data integrity and consistency across portfolio tools and systems.Support adherence to portfolio governance frameworks and standards, ensuring projects comply with stage-gate processes and reporting requirements.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Educated to Masters degree level in a subject with a strong analytical and financial component or holds demonstratable equivalent relevant experience. A professional qualification in Portfolio Management such P3O foundation or Practitioner, Strategic Portfolio Management. A professional qualification in project management at foundation level and awareness of MSP at foundation level or experience of delivering complex projects.
Experience Essential
Proven experience working as an analyst within a complex PMO, portfolio, or programme environment. Specialist knowledge of portfolio management procedures, governance frameworks, and reporting standards. Demonstrable experience as a primary administrator or expert user for Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software and tools. Advanced experience in Excel and Power BI dashboards. Experience in analysing resource demand and capacity, and aggregating risks and issues at a portfolio level. Experience in supporting benefits realisation tracking and reporting. Experience of contributing to multiyear portfolio planning processes, providing analytical input to support prioritisation and informed decisionmaking.
