About this role

Job summary

As a Pharmacy Technician within Practice Plus Group IUC's Worcestershire Urgent Access Primary Care Service, you will help deliver a safe, legal and high-quality medicines management service across multiple primary care settings. Working closely with clinical, operational and medicines management teams, you will support compliance with regulatory standards, commissioning requirements and organisational policies.

This is a varied role with responsibility for maintaining medicines governance, supporting safer prescribing initiatives and ensuring effective stock management across Primary Care Centres throughout Worcestershire. Regular travel between sites is required to maintain medicine availability and support safe service delivery.

You will play a key role in monitoring prescribing activity, coordinating medicines management processes, reviewing medicines-related incidents and supporting audits, inspections and quality improvement activity. The position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues while contributing to patient safety and service excellence.

You will also support the ongoing development of medicines management practices, help implement local and national guidance, and contribute to governance activities that improve the quality and effectiveness of care across the service.

Main duties of the job Manage medicines stock, controlled drugs and supplies across service locations, ensuring safe availability and compliance with legal requirements. Review prescriptions for legal compliance and escalate any concerns to clinical leadership when required. Daily travel between IUC sites in Worcestershire transferring stock, using our PPG Cars. Coordinate prescription processes, including ordering, tracking, collation and supply of prescription packs. Undertake medicines management audits, reporting activities and prescribing analysis to support quality and compliance. Investigate medicines-related incidents, complaints and feedback, supporting learning and service improvement. Monitor and action medicines safety alerts, guidance updates and governance requirements in collaboration with clinical teams. Chair medicines management meetings and produce reports, bulletins and quality assurance materials. Support staff training, medicines-related competencies and line management responsibilities for operational colleagues. Assist with CQC preparedness, controlled drug licence requirements, pharmaceutical waste management, wider medicines management projects and assist with ensuring IPC standards.

About us Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). BTEC, NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or an equivalent qualification that enables GPhC registration. Post-qualification dispensary experience within community or hospital pharmacy with strong medicines management knowledge. Understanding of pharmacy legislation, standards of practice, clinical governance and NHS policies. Experience of stock control, multidisciplinary working and effective use of IT systems. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities, work independently and perform effectively under pressure. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement. A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to build positive working relationships and support a safe, patient-focused environment.
