CLCH Hertfordshire Adult Community Services - CLCH NHS Trust provides a range of Community Services, and the Hertfordshire Division is recruiting!
We are seeking a Band 6 Sexual Health Nurse based at Watford Sexual Health Clinic. This part-time role (34 hours per week) offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dedicated and supportive team delivering high-quality sexual health and contraception services.
You will provide expert nursing care to patients with a range of sexual health and contraceptive needs, undertaking assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment within agreed clinical guidelines. Working within the context of a clinical governance framework, you will help ensure safe, effective and person-centred care while maintaining compliance with Trust policies and national standards.
You will act as a professional role model, supporting the development of clinical practice and deputising for the Team Lead when required. You will also contribute to the supervision, teaching and assessment of registered and unregistered staff.
This role includes a strong focus on health promotion and education, supporting individuals to make informed choices and reduce risk in line with the objectives of The National Strategy for Sexual Health (2001). Main duties of the job
Sexual Health nurses are required to work in line with BASHH and CoSRH guidance, and complete competencies as set out within the service.
Key duties within this role include:
o Recognising signs and symptoms of STI'so Asymptomatic and symptomatic screening of male and female patients.o Taking of male and female genital swabso Microscopy and making provisional STI diagnoses.o Venepunctureo Point of care testing for blood borne viruseso Treating named infections and administering contraception using Patient Group Directions (PGD's) or working towards completing Non-Medical Prescribing.o Competent in insertion and removal of contraceptive implants or willingness to learno To be up to date and able to advise, teach and counsel on all methods of contraception, and to be willing to train to fit and remove contraceptive implantso To maintain complete clear and legible records of all clerical and legal documentation in accordance with policies and statutory requirements.o Promote good practice and adopt a holistic approach to patient care at all times.o The post holder will undertake any other clinical duties assigned by the Clinic Manager or Clinical Nurse Lead such as working flexible hours and working across Sexual Health Hertfordshire. The post holder may be required to work weekends and evening.

Registered Nurse with full and current UK NMC registration CoSRH Diploma in contraceptive or equivalent Evidence recent professional development Recognised mentorship and preceptorship or willingness to undertake
Desirable
STIF Level 2 competence/GUM course CoSRH LoC SDI and IUD, or willingness to train. Non-medical Prescriber qualification
Experience Essential
Experience as CASH nurse Experience of health promotion and education Experience of effective teaching, mentoring and assessing Evidence of working with staff from different professional disciplines Able to utilise evidence in practice. To be proficient in screening of asymptomatic and symptomatic people Experience of managing/coordinating teamwork
Desirable
Experience in gynaecology, HIV, counselling, research, outreach, and other experience related to the speciality or willing to undertake training. Skills & Knowledge Essential
Venepuncture Administering treatments and vaccinations Ability to work as part of a team, to make decisions and work autonomously Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
