Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the Medical Day Unit (MDU), a thriving nurse-led service delivering high-quality specialist treatments to patients across a wide range of specialties, including haematology, oncology, hepatology, neurology and gastroenterology.
No two days are the same on MDU. Our patients may attend for a one-off treatment, a short course of treatment , or ongoing lifelong care, allowing you to build meaningful relationships and see the lasting impact of the care you provide. By delivering treatment in a day-case setting, we help patients maintain their independence and continue living life beyond hospital walls.
MDU provides a diverse and rewarding range of treatments, including blood transfusions, immunoglobulin therapy, ascitic drainage and bladder instillations. The complexity and variety of our work create excellent opportunities to develop specialist knowledge as well as developing excellent clinical skills such as IV drug administration, Cannulation and Venepuncture. As well as learning about a broad range of health issues and their management.
As a nurse-led unit, we work in close partnership with consultants, specialist nurses and multidisciplinary teams, creating a supportive environment where innovation, learning and professional development are encouraged every day.
Main duties of the job
As a Registered Nurse within the Medical Day Unit, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care throughout the patient's journey. You will be responsible for ensuring patients receive safe, effective and personalised care during their visit, helping them access specialist treatments whilst maintaining their independence and quality of life.
