About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced nurse to become a Nurse Consultant within the Breast Cancer oncology team. The role will support the Breast Cancer Oncology Services, working as an increasingly independent practitioner responsible for patient treatment and holistic patient centred care.

As a Nurse Consultant you will provide high level of expert clinical advice and leadership, support and deliver education and professional development and assist in research and quality improvementprojects.

Working alongside clinical colleagues, the successful individual will reduce waiting times to see specialist oncology practitioners, provide resilience to the service and improve patient experience.

This is a very exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for patient care in the Breast-oncology setting.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be passionate about providing high quality patient care in this exciting and rewarding area. You will join an innovative team of oncologists, ACPs, pharmacists and specialist nurses, delivering non-surgical oncology treatments in a tertiary centre.

You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to prioritise a complex workload. You will take pride in your work,be self-motivated, professional, proactive and personally resilient. In addition, have a flexible approach, good organisational skills, and excellent attention to detail. You will be passionate as a lifelong, self-directed learner in this rapidly developing and exciting specialty. You will have opportunities to lead service changes to improve performance and patient care.

Qualifications & Education Essential

oRegistered Nurse, Midwife or AHP oCurrent NMC/HCPC registration oPossession of a master's degree or established on pathway and able to provide evidence of academic achievement at this level oEvidence of post graduate specialist education related to area of clinical expertise

Desirable

oPossession of or working towards a Doctorate

Knowledge & Experience Essential

oEvidence of Supervision and assessment in practice oKnowledge and understanding of relevant NHS policy or project specific policy context oHas understanding / experience of adult / child safeguarding oHighly developed advanced specialist in field and applies theory to practice oHas expert knowledge in practice, research, education, and leadership in specialist area and within the field of your profession oExtensive experience of clinical work in specialist area oAudit / research experience oExtensive clinical and leadership experience in the specialist field oExperience of contributing to the development of your profession at a regional / national level
