Main duties of the job As a Regional Health & Safety Advisor at Elysium Healthcare, you will work closely with the Elysium Health & Safety Team and other key stakeholders to provide expert advice, guidance, and support on health and safety matters. Your role involves implementing and monitoring the health and safety strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices. You will partner with site leadership to help identify risks, implement controls, and maintain high standards of health and safety across the region. The position requires preparing risk assessments, supporting compliance during inspections by regulatory bodies, and contributing to various health and safety initiatives and training programs. You play a crucial role in inspections by authorities such as the HSE and Fire Authorities. Ultimately, you contribute to fostering a strong safety culture within the organisation, ensuring health and safety compliance is seamlessly integrated into daily operations across multiple sites.

As part of the Elysium Health & Safety Team, you will work closely with Operational and Regional Directors, Registered Managers, and Estates colleagues to provide expert advice, guidance, and support on all aspects of health and safety. Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you will play a key role in implementing and monitoring Elysium's health and safety strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation, organisational policies, and industry best practice.
In this varied role, you will support services to maintain high standards of health and safety, helping to identify risks, implement effective controls, and promote a positive safety culture across the region. You will partner with site leadership teams to provide practical advice and support, ensuring legal and regulatory requirements are met and embedded into day-to-day operations.
You will support registered managers during inspections by regulatory and enforcement bodies, including Environmental Health Officers, Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Fire Authorities, and other relevant agencies. Working collaboratively with Registered Managers / Hospital Directors and Estates teams, you will help ensure health and safety activities are effectively managed, monitored, and completed.
You will also contribute to the development and delivery of health and safety initiatives, campaigns, and improvement programmes designed to enhance the wellbeing of colleagues and strengthen organisational safety performance.
Covering sites across the South and South East of England. Key responsibilities:
Provide competent health and safety advice, guidance, and support to staff at all levels. Complete model risk assessments, and support sites with the development of general, and specific risk assessments, seeking assurance that identified controls are in place. Monitor site H&S performance, local risk management and implementation of corporate health and safety policy and procedures. Support the site to ensure a COSHH database, and relevant COSHH risk assessments are maintained and updated as required. Undertake reviews of Fire Risk Assessments at each site, monitor the action plan, and overseeing that all identified actions are completed within the timescales required. Coordinate and chair site Health & Safety meetings across the region at least every quarter. Produce a monthly regional health & safety report for the relevant Director, and Head of Health and Safety, based on activities and issues from within the region. Attend monthly regional governance meetings to provide H&S updates. Monitor Accidents, Incidents and Near Misses, and undertaking the reporting of RIDDOR reportable incidents. Investigation of RIDDOR reportable incidents and supporting sites with non-RIDDOR accident / incident investigations as required. Conducting the annual Corporate Health & Safety Audit at all sites within the region, overseeing the development of an Action Plan, and completion of actions. Delivery of Level 3 Health and Safety training to Registered Managers. Delivery of other relevant Health and Safety training as required. To be successful in this role, you will need:
Knowledge and Skills
Hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent). NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Fire Risk Assessment. Hold a relevant teaching qualification and be able to deliver the Level 3 Health and Safety training or be willing to undergo the training as required. (D) Strong knowledge of UK H&S regulations and standards and must keep up to date with current and emerging health and safety legislation and guidance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficient IT skills. Experience Experience in carrying out incident investigation. Practical experience of Health & Safety in a multi-site capacity is preferred but not essential. (D) Relevant experience in the health sector would be advantageous but is not essential. (D) Ability to influence and engage employees and leaders across the business. Other Requirements Membership of a professional safety body such as IOSH, IIRSM, BSC is preferred to demonstrate continuous professional development, but is not essential. (D) What You’ll Get

Qualifications Essential
To qualify for this role, you must hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent) and a NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment. A relevant teaching qualification is required to deliver Level 3 Health and Safety training or a willingness to obtain such certification. Strong knowledge of UK H&S regulations and standards with proficiency in written and verbal communication and IT skills is essential. Experience in incident investigation and a practical understanding of Health & Safety in a multi-site capacity is preferred. Membership in a professional safety body like IOSH is an advantage.
