Part-time receptionist 25hrs/wk

Spring Gardens Group Medical Practice is seeking a professional, friendly and highly organised Receptionist to join our busy and patient-focused team. As the first point of contact for patients, visitors and healthcare professionals, you will play a vital role in creating a positive experience for everyone who contacts or visits the practice.

You will work closely with GPs, nurses, clinical pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time. A commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and delivering high-quality patient care is essential.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of a supportive reception and administration team, you will be responsible for managing telephone and face-to-face enquiries, booking appointments, processing requests, maintaining accurate patient records and providing excellent customer service. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and compassionate in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Job description Job responsibilities

Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice.

Handling incoming telephone calls and online enquiries.

Booking, amending and cancelling appointments.

Signposting patients to the most appropriate service or clinician.

Processing prescription requests and administrative tasks as required.

Managing patient registrations and updating medical records.

Handling confidential information in accordance with GDPR and practice policies.

Supporting the wider practice team with general administrative duties.

Maintaining a professional, courteous and patient-centred approach at all times

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Significant experience in an administration and/or customer service environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confidence and skills with IT and computer work. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. Commitment to confidentiality, equality and patient care.

Desirable

Experience in a healthcare or GP setting is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. Experience of medical summarising of patient notes.

Qualifications Essential

GCSE in English and Maths or demonstrable equivalent
