Job summary We are seeking a willing and focused Principal Designer to carry out co-ordination for all UK projects in line with CDM Regulations 2015. This role is for someone who has high attention to detail, the ability to communicate clearly and confidently at all levels, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate into a team environment. The Principal Designer will report to the Head of Projects and work closely with the Sales and Final Engineering teams. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Carry out the duties of the Principal Designer in line with the requirements of the CDM Regulations 2015 Engage with clients and designers to positively influence, enhance and integrate health & safety /design risk management into the project team, design team meetings and the construction phase Take ownership and lead the design risk management process whilst applying the general principles of prevention Effectively plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase when most design work is carried out Take account of various aspects of the project including usability, functionality, future maintainability, life cycle building management and identify residual risks at all stages of the project Identify, compile and issue suitable project specific pre-construction information to assist contractors in managing significant risk once construction begins Health & Safety File compilation Provide clear, concise and practical health and safety advice, guidance and coaching to project teams at all stages of the project when required Management of multiple projects for key clients to the business Report to the Head of projects, programme and manage own workload within the Sales and Final Engineering teams Read and fully understand client specifications, documentation drawings and environments Ascertain preliminary and detailed project requirements and solutions, including value engineering solutions Liaison with the KUK Sales Engineering, Final Engineering and Project delivery teams for each project as necessary Attend site visits, client meetings, engineering meetings both in the UK and in Head Office in Graz Responsible, with senior management, for the identification and evaluation of risks as well as developing a strategy to manage and mitigate the risks to the company Consider site safety, health and environmental issues Co-ordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors and ‘in-house’ resources Compile and collate documentation, schedules and data sheets etc. for inclusion into final formal proposal submissions and final documentation Ensure that commercial and technical submissions are fully compliant all regulations along with the conditions of contract with all necessary details/clarifications/qualifications to the proposal clearly communicated Skills/qualifications A history of working in complex Mechanical or Electrical Projects as either a project engineer or designer Intralogistics engineering experience in warehousing for conveyors, cranes, shuttle systems, racking and mezzanine systems and robotics Hold a design qualification. i.e. engineer or relevant experience preferably in a construction industry/automation/intralogistics industry Must have extensive experience & knowledge of construction design process and CDM PD experience (CDM 2015) and working as a Health & Safety Advisor within the construction industry/automation/intralogistics industry Hold a NEBOSH Construction Certificate – Valid within the last 5 years or Technical, Graduate or Chartered Membership of IOSH IT literacy – Minimum MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and MS Project Important behaviours to have in line with our company values Appreciation – Recognises the achievement of others Creativity – Is resourceful and innovative Courage – Willing to learn and try new things Openness – Always approachable and helpful Reliability – Consistently gives their best Local benefits Some locations have local benefits; please speak to a member of the management team.
