One Duke — Building the Intelligence, Automation & Execution Engine for Supply Chain Be You. Lead the enterprise Supply Chain Business and Operations function for Duke University and Duke Health by advancing AI and automation, operating the Supply Chain Project Management Office, leading the SCM Business Office, and building business insights through analytics, visualization, and PowerBI dashboards. This senior director converts data, technology, process discipline, and executive priorities into a coordinated operating capability that improves decision-making, execution, transparency, and measurable value creation. Primary Accountability Areas AI, Automation & Digital Innovation Lead all Supply Chain AI and automation activities across Duke University and Duke Health, including opportunity identification, use-case prioritization, implementation, adoption, and benefit tracking. Build practical automation solutions that reduce manual work, improve cycle time, strengthen compliance, and create capacity for higher-value supply chain activity. Partner with IT, data governance, cybersecurity, compliance, operational leaders, and functional owners to ensure AI and automation solutions are safe, scalable, governed, and aligned with enterprise standards. Project Management Office Leadership Run the Supply Chain Project Management Office and provide structure, cadence, standards, and accountability for major enterprise initiatives. Maintain a disciplined portfolio view of strategic projects, value creation initiatives, restructuring work, system implementations, and cross-functional priorities. Improve project execution through charters, milestones, decision logs, risk tracking, stakeholder alignment, status reporting, and escalation pathways. SCM Business Office & Budget Management Lead the SCM Business Office function, including budgeting, financial planning support, expense monitoring, workforce reporting, and operating discipline for the Supply Chain organization. Partner with Finance and Supply Chain leaders to improve budget transparency, forecast accuracy, position control, productivity analysis, and financial decision support. Create reliable reporting and management routines that help leaders understand spend, staffing, budget performance, project investment, and operating commitments. Business Insights, Analytics & PowerBI Dashboards Lead the business insights function with primary emphasis on analytics, performance reporting, and PowerBI dashboards that support executive decision-making. Develop dashboards that translate supply chain data into actionable insights across savings, spend, contracts, sourcing pipeline, inventory, operations, supplier performance, and stakeholder service levels. Ensure analytics are trusted, repeatable, well-defined, and connected to the operating cadence of supply chain leadership, governance forums, and functional teams. Enterprise Performance Management & Governance Support Create the reporting infrastructure needed to support Board of Managers governance, executive reviews, value creation tracking, and functional performance management. Distinguish projected value, implemented value, and realized value through consistent definitions, data sources, dashboards, and executive-ready reporting. Support leaders in using data to identify priorities, evaluate tradeoffs, monitor execution, and sustain accountability across the enterprise supply chain portfolio. Change Enablement, Adoption & Continuous Improvement Help functional leaders translate new tools, dashboards, workflows, and automation into practical adoption across teams. Advance a culture of technology-enabled improvement, analytical discipline, transparency, and project execution maturity. Identify opportunities to simplify work, reduce variation, improve service, and strengthen leadership visibility into performance. Measures of Success AI and automation use cases implemented with measurable improvements in productivity, cycle time, compliance, service quality, or decision support. Reliable PMO cadence and improved execution of enterprise supply chain projects, including clear charters, milestones, risks, and status visibility. Improved SCM budget transparency, forecast discipline, position control, and business office reporting. PowerBI dashboards adopted by leadership and functional teams to manage savings, spend, operations, contracts, inventory, suppliers, and strategic initiatives. Consistent governance reporting that clearly distinguishes pipeline, implemented value, and realized performance. Stakeholder confidence in Supply Chain data, project execution, automation capability, and executive decision support. Scope & Influence Enterprise leader for Supply Chain insights, innovation, automation, PMO, business office, and analytics across Duke University & Duke Health. Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $121,276.00 to USD $242,552.00.
