We are a 6 year running Top Workplace in the Greater St. Louis area. Job Summary Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Senior Mechanical Engineer. This position is based out of our Goleta, CA facility and will have the option to work an in person or hybrid schedule. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead design efforts and provide technical direction at both the platform and system levels. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be involved in the design, fabrication, and modification of mechanical and/or electromechanical components, sub-systems, and systems. They will evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production and customer requirements for new or improved products or services, and will investigate solutions to product or process issues. Job Responsibilities Lead and contribute to cross-functional, multi-site development teams composed of Systems, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, and Specialty Engineers. Perform the design, development, modification, analysis, and documentation of various mechanical systems. Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or services, and investigate solutions to product or process problems. Support design completion, fabrication and modification of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical components, sub-systems and systems. Interpret the requirements, specifications, and customer's expectations of system or subsystem, and lead a project team to develop designs to best support them. Lead mechanical integration at the platform and system level. Support integration testing and other related engineering and marketing demonstration events Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel, including mentoring and coaching junior engineers. Provide labor estimates and schedule input for design assignments. Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services. Participate in the preparation of technical proposals. Support and participate in technical engineering activities; attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings. Interact and communicate clearly (both written and oral) with technical management, technicians, support personnel, program management, customers, and other personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer on technical activities and progress. Use computer-aided design tools to create and update integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE mechanical modeling and drawing solutions. Drive the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements. Develop prototypes to retire key development risks. Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings. Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field 5+ years of relevant engineering experience Experience applying GD&T standard ASME Y-14.5-2018 (R2024) Solid knowledge of 3D CAD systems Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) Excellent analytical and communication skills, written and oral Strong performance in fast-paced, team-driven environments Expertise in developing solutions and executing plans for complex projects Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and building effective internal and external relationships Proven capability to define and independently complete technical projects Ability to define and complete technical projects independently Ability to travel (CONUS and OCONUS) up to 10% of the time U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment. The salary range for this position is $ 107,089.00 /year- $144,570.00/year. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
