Commissioning Manager (Permanent) Victoria, BC (Band 4.1) Expected Salary: $103,223 - $137,630 To determine final salary, Babcock considers a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer is at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package. Description In this role, you will: • Provide leadership, oversight and management for a team of engineers and technologists conducting testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine (VCS) systems and equipment. • Assess, treat, document, and communicate risks associated with submarine platform and mission systems to both internal and external customers • Contribute to the determination of solutions to problems and issues of moderate to high complexity and clearly articulate complex technical issues, solutions and risks to all stakeholders (technical and non-technical). • Be responsive to Program Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment • Provide mentorship and guidance to Commissioning Team personnel • Be responsible to provide direct support to submarine operators and maintainers deployed in a variety of environments and operational scenarios • Other duties as required. The ideal candidate brings: • Strong technical skills including post-secondary education; degree and/or diploma in an engineering technology, or equivalent experience • Registration to practice as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), an Applied Science Technologist (AScT), or a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) with the applicable provincial association • Significant operational experience or equivalent equipment maintainer experience (12+ years) in a marine environment • Proven leadership skills and experience (5+ years) managing technical teams • Submarine system knowledge and experience including operations and maintenance considered an asset • Experience (5+ years) with naval mission systems and communications and/or naval mechanical and/or electrical systems is highly desirable • Experience with ISO Standard 15288 and systems engineering life-cycle • Familiarity with ASHRAE Guideline 0-2013 commissioning processes and system optimization • Experience with functional and non-functional system inspection, demonstration and performance testing • Have the physical ability to climb and descend ladders and stairs to access work areas. • Have the physical ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods. • Have the physical dexterity to allow for working in confined spaces and areas with limited room for movement. • Comfortable working on scaffolding at heights and around water. • Comfortable working in an industrial environment and around moving equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.). • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal • Excellent computer skills including MS Office suite • Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance Babcock is committed to promoting a workforce without boundaries.
