Job Requirements POSITION SUMMARY The Clinical Application Training Specialist II coordinates and facilitates foundational training and provides educational support for clinical staff and licensed practitioners in the use of clinical applications, with a primary focus on the Epic electronic health record (EHR). The Clinical Application Training Specialist II not only delivers Epic‑led and organizational training, but also adapts content, supports workflow refinement, and contributes to optimization efforts under established governance. The Clinical Application Training Specialist II serves as a trusted training partner for clinical departments, supports complex workflows, assists with training design and improvement, and provides advanced post‑training support, escalating only highly complex or strategic issues. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Delivers Epic‑led, department‑developed, and supplemental training across multiple roles or service lines independently. • Supports new initiatives, upgrades, and go‑live activities, including at‑the‑elbow support • Applies working experience of clinical workflows to reinforce best practices and identify training gaps. • Partners with informatics, clinical leaders, and application teams to support workflow changes and optimization initiatives. • Assists with user setting labs, personalization support, and efficiency tools. • Contributes to the development, revision, and maintenance of training materials, job aids, and tip sheets. • Identifies and provides opportunities to improve training effectiveness based on feedback, metrics, and observed workflow challenges. • Serves as a point of contact for assigned departments or service lines regarding training needs. • Mentors or supports junior Training Specialists through guidance and knowledge sharing activities. • Participates actively in department initiatives, committees, and change‑related activities.
Work Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: Associate’s degree in Nursing (ASN) Allied Health focus, or a relevant field. • Work Experience: Four (4) years’ experience in clinical practice, informatics, or education, including experience in delivering independent clinical application training in a multi-specialty or acute care environment. • Licensure: None • Certification: Epic certification, accreditation, or proficiency of applicable modules within six (6) months of start date and maintained. • Work Experience In Lieu of Education: High School Diploma and an additional two (2) years’ experience in in clinical practice, informatics, or education. • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of customers in a diverse healthcare environment. • Able to analyze training feedback and identify improvement opportunities. • Able to work independently while aligning with department standards and governance. • Able to handle stress and dynamic work situations to meet customer needs and deadlines. • Able to prepare educational materials in a timely, professional manner. • Able to effectively function as a facilitator. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: Bachelor’s degree. • Work Experience:
• Experience supporting application optimization or workflow changes. • Experience mentoring junior trainers or new team members.
• Licensure: Allied Health Professional (i.e., RN, LPN, RD, RT, RRT, MA, EMT, EMT-P, etc.). • Certification: Epic certification(s) in relevant modules (e.g., ClinDoc, Beacon). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping. • Long periods of computer time or at workstation. • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance. • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise. • Communicating with others to exchange information. • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks. • Workspace may vary from open to confined. • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
