Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on safely and efficiently loading and unloading trailers in a fast-paced crossdock warehouse environment. You will operate various powered industrial trucks, with approximately 85% of your time spent on forklifts, dockstockers, and power pallet jacks, while also handling general warehouse and material handling tasks as needed. Responsibilities • Load and unload trailers that arrive at the facility using forklifts, dockstockers, and power pallet jacks. • Stage inbound and outbound freight in designated areas to support efficient crossdock operations. • Operate dockstockers and end rider power pallet jacks (single and double jack) safely and effectively. • Handle pallets and materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs, to support loading, unloading, and staging activities. • Perform general warehouse duties such as material handling, packaging, and pallet organization. • Use RF scanners to scan, track, and verify shipments for shipping and receiving activities. • Follow all safety procedures and warehouse guidelines while operating equipment and moving freight. • Assist with shipping and receiving processes, including verifying counts and ensuring correct placement of freight. • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the crossdock environment. • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure trailers are loaded, unloaded, and staged on time. Essential Skills • Proven experience operating dockstockers in a warehouse or crossdock environment. • Proven experience operating power pallet jacks, including end rider (single and double jack) equipment. • Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. • Hands-on experience with forklifts and material handling in a warehouse setting. • Experience with unloading and loading trailers in a crossdock or similar operation. • Ability to perform general labor and warehouse duties as required. • Familiarity with pallet jacks and pallet handling procedures. • Experience with shipping and receiving processes. • Ability to use RF scanners for tracking and verifying shipments. • Commitment to following safety procedures and equipment operating guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience working in a crossdock or high-volume logistics environment. • Background in general warehouse operations, including packaging and staging freight. • Comfort working with various powered industrial trucks and manual material handling tools. • Flexibility to work different shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekend coverage. • Strong attention to detail when handling freight and verifying shipments. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced setting. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a busy crossdock warehouse where trailers are constantly arriving and departing and must be loaded, unloaded, and staged efficiently. You will work with forklifts, dockstockers, end rider power pallet jacks (single and double jack), pallet jacks, and RF scanners as part of daily operations. The environment is fast-paced, with frequent movement of freight and pallets. Multiple shift options are available, including Monday to Friday shifts from 7:00am3:00pm, 3:00pm11:00pm, and 11:00pm7:00am, as well as day shifts with weekend coverage that may be 8, 10, or 12 hours and can include various days of the week. You will work indoors in a warehouse setting and should be prepared for typical warehouse conditions, including regular physical activity and material handling. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
