Job Title: Janitorial Worker Job DescriptionThis role provides essential environmental services in a hospital setting by delivering high-quality cleaning and sanitation to ensure a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The position focuses on maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and order in a state-of-the-art facility while following established safety and cleaning standards.Responsibilities
• Clean offices, patient and resident rooms, dorms, classrooms, common areas, lavatories, halls, food service areas, and other assigned spaces to maintain a sanitary and orderly environment. • Sweep, mop, scrub, and polish floors, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces to keep all surfaces clean and presentable. • Perform hard-surface floor care, including scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing, as well as carpet spotting and extraction using mechanical equipment when required. • Assist in maintaining wood floors, such as those in gymnasiums or studios, including cleaning, screening, stripping, sanding, and refinishing as needed. • Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, mattresses, furniture, windows, and window coverings to ensure a thorough level of cleanliness. • Use cleaning chemicals properly and safely in accordance with manufacturer instructions and established standards. • Empty trash and garbage containers and ensure waste is removed and disposed of safely and efficiently. • Replenish supplies and materials, such as paper products, soaps, and other consumables, to ensure areas remain stocked and ready for use. • Change sheets and replenish linens when assigned, supporting overall room readiness and comfort. • Perform routine equipment maintenance and make minor repairs to cleaning equipment to keep tools in good working condition. • Drive a golf cart or other vehicles if needed to transport supplies, equipment, or materials within the facility. • Move furniture and set up tables and chairs for meetings, events, or room reconfigurations as requested. • Notify supervisors of any maintenance needs, safety concerns, or additional repairs observed during daily tasks. • Comply with all safety and risk management policies and procedures while performing all assigned duties. • Report all accidents and injuries promptly and accurately in accordance with established procedures. • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments to maintain a safe work environment. • Apply all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work activities. Essential Skills
• Previous experience in roles such as janitor, custodian, or similar cleaning and maintenance positions. • Ability to perform a wide range of cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, vacuuming, and dusting. • Capability to use mechanical cleaning equipment safely for floor care, carpet care, and other specialized cleaning tasks. • Knowledge of proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer guidelines and organizational standards. • Attention to detail to ensure all assigned areas meet cleanliness and hygiene standards. • Ability to follow safety policies, risk management procedures, and OSHA-related requirements. • Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift hours, including rotating weekends and holidays. • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, move furniture, and operate cleaning equipment throughout the shift. • Strong reliability and consistency in completing assigned tasks and responsibilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in service-oriented roles such as waitress, server, bartender, or home health aide, demonstrating strong customer service and interpersonal skills. • Experience in hospitality or environmental services, particularly in healthcare or similar high-standard environments. • Comfort working in a hospital setting and adhering to infection control and cleanliness protocols. • Ability to perform minor equipment maintenance and simple repairs on cleaning tools and machines. • Willingness to participate in ongoing safety training and hazard assessments. All shifts includes rotating weekends and holidays. You will work throughout patient care areas, offices, common spaces, and support areas, using a variety of cleaning tools, chemicals, and mechanical equipment for floor and carpet care. The facility is modern and state-of-the-art, with open spaces and contemporary design. The dress code includes black pants (no denim, sweatpants, yoga pants, or spandex), black slip-resistant shoes, and black socks; hair must be a natural color. A uniform shirt is provided. The role involves regular walking, standing, bending, lifting, and moving furniture, as well as potential operation of carts or vehicles within the facility, all while adhering to strict safety and cleanliness standards. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.19 - $18.19/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
