About this role

Job Title: Material Handler (Hi-Lo Driver)Job DescriptionThis role supports a modern, climate-controlled automotive manufacturing facility by safely moving and staging materials using a hi-lo, feeding raw materials to the production lines, and preparing finished products for shipment. You work on a B Crew schedule, Monday through Thursday, on second shift (4:00 p.m. 2:30 a.m.), with occasional overtime on non-scheduled weekdays and, when needed, on weekends. Steel-toe footwear is required from your first day. Responsibilities • Operate a hi-lo to stage materials in the warehouse and supply production lines with incoming materials. • Feed raw materials to the production line to support continuous manufacturing operations. • Use a radio frequency (RF) scanner to track, move, and confirm materials accurately throughout the facility. • Stage materials and finished products for shipping according to work instructions and shipping requirements. • Monitor the production process and material flow to help ensure efficiency and minimize downtime. • Complete final packaging of products, following detailed work instructions and quality standards. • Perform cleaning and organization tasks to maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient workplace. • Communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers and production staff to meet production deadlines. • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials. • Participate in continuous training within the production department and apply new skills on the job. • Perform other production-related activities as directed by leadership. • Carry out other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and production operations. Essential Skills • Experience in material handling in a warehouse or production environment. • Ability to operate a hi-lo or similar powered industrial truck safely and efficiently. • Proficient use of RF scanners for material tracking and inventory control. • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repetitively and perform frequent squatting, bending, and ducking. • Reliable attendance and punctuality to support production schedules. • General production and loading experience, including staging and moving materials. • Ability to follow detailed work instructions for packaging and shipping. • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area. • Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members on the warehouse and production floor. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Automotive manufacturing or automotive industry background is preferred. • General labor experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting. • Experience in a high-volume production environment is beneficial. • Comfort working with quotas and performance evaluations tied to pay increases. • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development. Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse connected to the manufacturing floor within a fully renovated, leased 150,000 sq. ft. space in a former automotive building. The plant is described as spotless and climate controlled, providing a comfortable and modern work setting. You work B Crew hours, Monday through Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with overtime typically scheduled on the weekday you are normally off and occasional weekend overtime when needed. The environment involves regular use of hi-los and RF scanners, frequent lifting up to 35 pounds, and physical movements such as squatting, bending, and ducking. Steel-toe footwear is required starting on day one. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pontiac, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.35 - $18.35/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
