Job Title: Facilities Maintenance EngineerJob DescriptionThis role supports daily facilities operations across manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas by maintaining and troubleshooting building systems such as compressed air, compressors, generators, lighting, HVAC, and utilities. The Facilities Maintenance Engineer performs general maintenance, repairs, and equipment checks to ensure production readiness, while coordinating vendors and contractors for repairs, maintenance, and facility improvements. The position manages work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and documentation, and supports facility upgrades, space reconfigurations, and equipment moves. In addition, the role provides safety and environmental health support, including facility safety inspections, emergency equipment checks, and assistance with incident response and regulatory readiness. Responsibilities • Support daily facilities operations across manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas to ensure reliable building and utility systems. • Troubleshoot and maintain building systems including compressed air systems, air compressors, generators, lighting, HVAC systems, and utilities. • Perform general maintenance, repairs, and routine equipment checks to ensure production equipment and facilities remain in a state of readiness. • Manage and complete work orders in a timely manner, ensuring accurate documentation of work performed, parts used, and follow-up needs. • Develop, follow, and update preventive maintenance schedules for facility equipment and building systems. • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee vendors and contractors performing repairs, maintenance, and facility improvements. • Support facility upgrades, including planning and executing space reconfigurations and equipment moves within manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas. • Conduct facility safety inspections and walkthroughs to identify hazards and ensure safe working conditions. • Assist with hazard identification, corrective actions, and basic safety compliance tasks in collaboration with the safety team. • Perform regular checks of emergency equipment, including eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and AEDs, and document findings. • Support incident response related to facilities or building systems and assist with follow-up actions to prevent recurrence. • Assist with emergency preparedness activities and drills, helping to ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios. • Help maintain documentation required for audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness related to facilities and safety. • Work closely with the environmental health and safety team to maintain safe, compliant work environments across all facility areas. • Be available as a first responder during night shifts for facilities-related issues and emergencies. • Use basic computer systems to enter, track, and update maintenance records, work orders, and logs. • Work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while prioritizing tasks and responding to urgent maintenance needs. • Collaborate with production and operations teams to minimize downtime and support continuous manufacturing operations. Essential Skills • At least 5 years of facilities maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including support for compressed air systems, compressors, generators, and production equipment. • Strong knowledge of building systems and general facility maintenance practices. • Hands-on experience working with equipment such as air compressors, electrical panels, and mechanical systems. • Ability to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC systems and conduct routine HVAC checks. • Demonstrated experience in plumbing, facilities maintenance, and general maintenance repair activities. • Proven troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and facility-related issues. • Ability to use basic computer systems for documentation, work orders, and maintenance logs. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve facility issues efficiently. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. • Willingness to learn environmental health and safety fundamentals and actively support safety programs. • Availability to work a night shift schedule after training and respond to facilities issues as a first responder. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience performing facilities maintenance in both manufacturing and warehouse environments. • Familiarity with production support requirements and the impact of facility systems on manufacturing operations. • Comfort working with mechanical, electrical, and HVAC equipment in an industrial setting. • Experience coordinating and overseeing external vendors and contractors for facility-related projects. • Exposure to safety inspections, emergency preparedness drills, and basic regulatory compliance activities. • Interest in developing deeper knowledge of environmental health and safety practices. Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing facility that includes production areas, warehouse spaces, and offices. You will work directly with industrial equipment such as air compressors, generators, HVAC systems, electrical panels, and other building and utility systems. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, requiring responsiveness to equipment issues and facility needs. The training schedule is 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the first four weeks, aligned with senior facilities and safety technicians for hands-on learning. After training, the regular schedule is 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, supporting night operations. Work involves moving throughout the facility, performing inspections, and responding to maintenance and safety needs, with an emphasis on maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-functioning workplace. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hayward, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
