Job Title: Machine Saw OperatorJob DescriptionThis role focuses on operating industrial saws to cut metal materials to precise customer specifications while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient production environment. You will apply metal to customer orders, accurately process material according to work order instructions, and support inventory control and quality standards in a fast-paced warehouse and production setting. Responsibilities • Apply metal to customer orders and process material accurately according to work order specifications. • Properly and safely set up saws and related equipment to run material according to setup notes and written work instructions. • Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to move, load, and unload materials safely. • Pull, inspect, and verify product before processing to ensure it matches work order and setup note requirements. • Process setup notes according to work order specifications and verify that product meets required specifications. • Read and interpret blueprints and use measuring tools, including rulers and tape measures, to cut materials to exact specifications. • Record inspection measurements according to the sampling plan and properly operate weighing scales to document results. • Enter and delete material identification tags accurately in accordance with written instructions. • Handle inventory control for each work order, including tracking material usage using basic math and documentation. • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming material, following established procedures. • Assist in packaging material according to written work instructions and work orders. • Maintain issued measurement equipment in proper working condition and report any issues as needed. • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality. • Maintain the processing area, equipment, and workstations in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. • Perform general clean-up tasks as required to support a safe and organized work environment. • Complete all required information entry accurately and in a timely manner. • Communicate with appropriate sales representatives or internal contacts regarding order changes or clarifications. • Train other team members in saw operation and related tasks when required. • Participate in activities related to lean initiatives and quality improvement. • Carry out job responsibilities in a manner that does not put self or others in unsafe situations. • Perform any other related tasks as assigned to support production and warehouse operations. Essential Skills • Minimum of 2+ years of saw operation experience working with metals, such as sheet metal and aluminum, in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. • At least 3+ years of warehouse experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. • High school diploma or GED. • Ability to read and write to follow work orders and written instructions. • Ability to perform basic math skills for inventory control, measurement, and material calculations. • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs safely and repeatedly. • Proficiency in operating industrial saws and related cutting equipment. • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints to run saws to specification. • Ability to use rulers, tape measures, and other hand-held measuring tools accurately. • Experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment. • Capability to operate cranes and other lifting devices safely. • Ability to follow written work instructions and setup notes precisely. • Basic computer literacy for data entry and inventory-related tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous warehouse experience in the metals industry. • Previous forklift operation experience with appropriate safety practices. • Experience with bandsaws, waterjet machines, press brakes, punch presses, drill presses, and other industrial machinery. • Background in machine operation, machine setup, and general industrial equipment operation. • Experience working with CNC or other automated industrial equipment. • Familiarity with lean practices and quality-focused processes. • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and high accuracy requirements. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality and safety. Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a warehouse and production environment with multiple shifts available, including 1st shift (6:00 a.m.2:00 p.m.), 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.10:00 p.m.), and 3rd shift (10:00 p.m.6:00 a.m.). Some departments, such as material control and shipping, may operate on standard schedules around 8:00 a.m.4:30 p.m. You will work around industrial saws, cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment, handling metal materials in a fast-paced setting. The work involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 40 lbs, and operating machinery and measuring tools in a production area. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a focus on maintaining a clean and orderly processing area and following established safety procedures and work instructions. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
